Library: Friday [16.11]

Karal had slept. Sort of. Regardless, he was back at the library at sunrise.

He made himself sit down with a cup of tea while he waited for everyone to arrive.

By the time Peter realized what happened, Adah was on the ground. He rushed over and checked her forehead, feeling the fever. "We need to get her to town hall."

As the others were focused on the fallen girl, Rodney caught sight of the notebook she had been looking at. It was some kind of entry on herbs with 'grace and humility' at the top.

"Um," he said as he tried to get someone's attention. "I think she was onto something."

He took a closer look at the notes. "It seems as though there's some correlation between 'grace and humility,' said with one-handed airquotes, "and certain herbs. Maybe this is part of a cure?"

"It's not likely to be spell components, seeing as they were trying to destroy magic users, but herbs? Glory, that is all we have in my world! Feverfew and willowbark tea and everything healing that is not magic is plants. That, that would make sense, especially if they are from so long ago."

"Herbs make sense," Ed said, shaking his head. "Too bad we didn't have a bunch of herbalists on the island to begin with."

He knelt down and slid his arms carefully under Adah to pick her up. "You guys find the plants. I'm going to take her to the town hall." He figured the others could manage picking a bunch of flowers. "Let them know we might be on to something."

With the most pressing issue at the moment taken care of Peter asked, "Okay, so, how are we going to find the herbs we need without just tearing apart a bunch of plants and doing trial and error?"

"Well, assuming they are on the island, which I think is a safe assumption from that note," Chris said. "I should be able to scry for them if we have a map."

"Truly?! That would solve the problem very neatly. The island's small, but it would take longer than I fear we have if we had to walk all over it. There's bound to be a book on plants so we can find pictures." He looked around Special Collections and shivered. "And I will not be sad to leave this place."

With one last look back, Karal led the way out, carefully locking it behind him.
