Library [07/14]

Dinosaurs were not part of the craze in her timestream where people brought extinct animals back through cloning. Thursday, however, had dealt with dinosaurs in her time inside fiction and didn't particularly feel like trying to negotiate with sharp teeth this time. So she packed up Friday and Pickwick, locked up the house, left a note for her housemates letting them know what was going on and where she was going and headed to the library. Friday would have been out of there and off to Mrs Bradshaw's in as much time as it takes to say 'I was in a long, dark, wood-panelled corridor', but the BookWorld was dealing with its own problems right now.

Fairly certain that the dinosaurs wouldn't be able to read, Thursday closed the doors up and put a note on the front saying 'open, knock or shout first', put Friday, his toys and Pickwick down where she could see them and set about trying to find out how exactly dinosaurs had shown up overnight without a fuss and how to get them to go away again.

Zack looked incredibly perky as he came into the library. "There are dinosaurs! I mean actual dinosaurs."

Dawn showed up carrying a large cup of coffee and box of doughnuts. "Morning," she greeted everyone. "So, dinosaurs. I'll be in the mystical section, looking to make sure they don't magically appear as a harbinger of apocalypses."

Karal - still shaken by their close escape - trotted into the library. He wasn't a fighter, this was the only way he could help, and he was determined to do something. "There's dinosaurs. They tried to eat Trenor."

"Good heavens." Evie gave him a big-eyed look over a huge encyclopedia. "Is he all right? Did you take him to the clinic? Are *you* all right?"

Evie, having heard the announcements, certainly wasn't going outside. She hoped that perhaps she could be of some use in the Library, researching, though.

"Jurassic, Cretaceous, Paleozoic...." Really, not her field, but anything can help, can't it?

His right arm hanging mostly uselessly at his side, Ed decided that reasearching was going to have to be the way to go about this. He waved with his left hand. "Hey all, what are we looking for? Other than why the hell dinosaurs?"

"I'm looking for random mystical events," Dawn called from across the library, "and you're welcome to help if you want."

Turtle...was not a hero type. Not unless money was involved, but she was pretty sure dinosaurs didn't exactly have legal tender.

Didn't mean she wasn't there to research to find out if maybe she was wrong, and they did. She figured she'd do at least a little bit of researching before writing out her last will and testament, anyway. That explained the law books she was picking up as well.

To say that Anne had spent all of last night in a bit of a panic would have been to understate the matter horribly. She had never been in a situation quite like this one before, but having decided that a heroine in one of her stories would never do something so disgraceful as to simply hide in her room wringing her hands and wailing, she undertook to at least put on a brave face and step out of her room.

And straight to the library that Evie had told her about, hoping to find some kind of solace in the well-beloved friends that books were to her. Perhaps she could at least find out why that creature had tried to eat her dress?

Re: Afternoon

After hearing the morning's announcement, Rodney decided that hiding in his dorm room would be the most prudent course of action. However, he was feeling even more panicked after a few hours had passed and there was no indication that the dinosaurs were leaving. Rodney knew he couldn't just sit around and wait to be eaten. It was too horrible to even contemplate the world being deprived of his genius before he could make any significant contributions to science. Or win a Nobel Prize. He decided to risk a trip to the library as that was where he could put his talents to the best use in an effort to save his own life.

He also considered that fact that it was one of few buildings on campus that had survived an alien invasion intact and thus it seemed the mostly likely place of safety during the dino invasion. Again, his personal wellbeing was his top priority.

When he got inside, he was panting heavily due to his mad dash from the dorms. “Does anyone else,” pant, “think it looks like,” pant, “Cretaceous Gardens,” pant, “out there?”

Some time in the early evening, Molly came into the library, yawning hugely and staggering just a little. She stopped inside the door and leaned against the wall to look around for Karal. Seeing him with his head in a book, she smiled and slid down the wall to sit and wait for him to be done.
