Library [07/14]

Dinosaurs were not part of the craze in her timestream where people brought extinct animals back through cloning. Thursday, however, had dealt with dinosaurs in her time inside fiction and didn't particularly feel like trying to negotiate with sharp teeth this time. So she packed up Friday and Pickwick, locked up the house, left a note for her housemates letting them know what was going on and where she was going and headed to the library. Friday would have been out of there and off to Mrs Bradshaw's in as much time as it takes to say 'I was in a long, dark, wood-panelled corridor', but the BookWorld was dealing with its own problems right now.

Fairly certain that the dinosaurs wouldn't be able to read, Thursday closed the doors up and put a note on the front saying 'open, knock or shout first', put Friday, his toys and Pickwick down where she could see them and set about trying to find out how exactly dinosaurs had shown up overnight without a fuss and how to get them to go away again.

Zack looked incredibly perky as he came into the library. "There are dinosaurs! I mean actual dinosaurs."

"Usually they're best guess representations based on fossils, or the fossils themselves, so technically..."

Zack grinned. "Sure," he said, and headed over to the palaeontology section, to find some books.

Dawn showed up carrying a large cup of coffee and box of doughnuts. "Morning," she greeted everyone. "So, dinosaurs. I'll be in the mystical section, looking to make sure they don't magically appear as a harbinger of apocalypses."

Karal - still shaken by their close escape - trotted into the library. He wasn't a fighter, this was the only way he could help, and he was determined to do something. "There's dinosaurs. They tried to eat Trenor."

Hermione comes to the library fairly early, greeting them all with "Dinosaurs?"

Evie, having heard the announcements, certainly wasn't going outside. She hoped that perhaps she could be of some use in the Library, researching, though.

"Jurassic, Cretaceous, Paleozoic...." Really, not her field, but anything can help, can't it?

"Good heavens." Evie gave him a big-eyed look over a huge encyclopedia. "Is he all right? Did you take him to the clinic? Are *you* all right?"

"They attempted to eat my horse!" he said, looking up. "They do not belong here."

"What?" Karal blinked at her, still distracted from nearly being eaten. "Oh, I am sorry. Yes, he is all right. Trenor is a horse, not a human. He is safely in the garage now."

"That's terrible!" she said, eyes wide and horrified. "Is everyone all right?"

"Oh thank heavens. Are there *very* many out there?" Evie gave him an anxious look, and pointed at the encyclopedias. "Which one was it?"

"Trenor is safe in the garage. I do not think he is very happy, but he is uninjured," he replied with a brief smile. "I don't know if anyone else is, though." He suddenly recalled manners. "And I am Karal. Do you know, is there something we should be doing?"

His eyes lit up and he reached for a book, flicking through it to try and find a picture. "There were several at the stables. Molly dealt with them, but they were hunting together, which means there is likely more of them."

"Oh, this isn't good at all." Evie chewed on a pen and shook her head. "They should all be extinct! It could be either magic or time-travel, if it's not just a few isolated individuals wandering in the Preserve." She gave Karal a worried look. "Molly is well?"
smartestone: (in the library)

"Hermione," she says. "Usually when this happens, we find any books we can on the subject, including ones about how they may have gotten here and how we might get rid of them." She thinks about this. "Or the number of a good paleontologist, maybe."

Re: Morning

"I do not know what a palaeontologist is," he said. "But I can find books. I have some experience in researching."

"Molly is well," he replied. "She has gone to fight, if necessary." Karal turned the book around so she could see it, open at a picture. "I believe this was what they were, deinonychus. But there is nothing here about how to banish them."
