Library [07/14]

Dinosaurs were not part of the craze in her timestream where people brought extinct animals back through cloning. Thursday, however, had dealt with dinosaurs in her time inside fiction and didn't particularly feel like trying to negotiate with sharp teeth this time. So she packed up Friday and Pickwick, locked up the house, left a note for her housemates letting them know what was going on and where she was going and headed to the library. Friday would have been out of there and off to Mrs Bradshaw's in as much time as it takes to say 'I was in a long, dark, wood-panelled corridor', but the BookWorld was dealing with its own problems right now.

Fairly certain that the dinosaurs wouldn't be able to read, Thursday closed the doors up and put a note on the front saying 'open, knock or shout first', put Friday, his toys and Pickwick down where she could see them and set about trying to find out how exactly dinosaurs had shown up overnight without a fuss and how to get them to go away again.

"Sleep." Karal kissed the top of her head. "There is not much else that can be achieved tonight. Eyes and mind are getting too weary to make sense, and that is how things get missed. Just let me," he held up the book, "finish with this, and then Altra will Jump us back to your room."

Altra walked over and sat on the other side of Molly. :Tell her she won't even have to wake up.:

Karal smiled while he repeated the 'cat's words, and added, "It is my turn to care for you."

Molly smiled back and closed her eyes. "I can wait," she said sleepily.

"Lie down, if you like. I am not so comfortable as a pillow, but can use me in one's stead." He smiled and put the book on the floor, stretching out his legs, and very gently urged her to lie down. "I will try not to take long."

"M'kay." Molly was done fighting sleep and she laid down with a sigh with her head on Karal's leg. She was asleep within moments.

It was about half an hour later that Karal put the book aside and rubbed his forehead. There was nothing more he was going to achieve. :You need to sleep,: Altra said from where he was curled up in front of Molly, his head resting on her knee.

"You are right," he replied. "Take us home, Altra. Molly's room, I think."

:I'm always right.: The 'cat sat up and stretched. :Sometimes you forget that.:

An instant later, only the book was left where they'd been (http://vkandis-son.livejournal.com/12591.html).
Karal was going to feel horribly guilty about that tomorrow.
