Intro to 21st Century American Culture - Monday - Period 5

Lorelai, of course, has a very large mug of coffee in her hands as her students file in. She smiles at them brightly and waits until they've all taken their seats before beginning to speak.

"Good afternoon!" she greets. "I'm Lorelai Gilmore-Danes. I realize that's a mouthful and I have no problem with any of you calling me Lorelai. If you're not comfortable with that I'll answer to Ms. Gilmore or Ms. Danes, but you definitely don't need to use the whole thing, okay?"

She put her mug down passed out papers to each student. "This is your syllabus. It's more of a guide than it is set in stone, so it may change after we talk today."

After passing out the papers, she sat on the edge of her desk and picked up her mug again. "Now, I'm guessing most of you are from other times and places. I'll best be able to help you if you tell me where and when you're from and what you want to learn from this class."

"Hullo, Bel."

"Okay. Glad this class finally started."Lyra sighed. "Normally I'm not this excited, but somehow I think this one's going to prove essential."

Zuko sat down and eyed the notes he had been given. With a sigh, he dragged out the dictionary from the library and tried to make sense of things.

Chances are that he did need help, but the whole part to admitting it and accepting it when it was offered didn't exactly come easy to Zuko.

Aeryn looks over the syllabus, figuring she might do all right for the next couple weeks. Then again, next week is E-mail. That part she's not looking forward to.

Aeryn had no idea why it occurred to her that she might have a class with Luke, especially this one. Seriously. She gives him a little smile and asks, "Settling in all right?"

Stark looked over the syllabus a few times, decided this was in fact a good class to be taking, and then started looking around the room. There were a lot of faces he didn't recognize.
