Valentine's Day Dance. The Gym. 8.30 pm

The gym was decorated, the DJs were playing, and the punch was not yet spiked.

Fandom High's Valentine's Day Dance had begun.

Peter grabbed some punch and headed over to his home for the evening, the Snark Corner. He was going to enjoy tonight, dammit, even if it had to be at the expense of other people. Stupid Student Council event...

Sam took a look around the room and headed over towards Peter. She saw his suit, looked down at her own black leather pants and silver silk shirt and mentally groaned. Why hadn't she known it was semi-formal? "Hi, Peter. I'm underdressed. How're you?"

It took Peter a moment to stop admiring Sam's outfit because, y'know, teenage boy seeing leather pants. But after that, he said, "Slightly miserable, trying not to let that keep me down. There are couples to be mocked. There will surely be dancing to be mocked. It shouldn't be hard to get into a decent mood."

"As far as your outfit, I wouldn't worry about it. It's a dance of misery. Wear what you want to, dammit!"

Dances, definitely not somewhere Mac's comfortable, although shockingly, she did actually dress up. Heading to the corner of people least likely to be requesting love-songs, definitely seems like a good choice.

"Hey, I've come to join the ranks of snarky and unattached. You lot found any good mocking material yet?"

"Hey, Mac," Peter said. "Not yet, but the night is young and the punch seems to be unspiked. So there's plenty of time."

"I think I might avoid the punch this evening. Just in case." She pulls a face, "I already have this mental image of myself doing something humiliating. I'd prefer not to make it reality".

"Why are you slightly miserable? And let the mocking start. Think there'll be singing?" She smiled at him. "Thanks. Although I don't remember seeing 'dance of misery' on the posters."

"I got dumped last month. Valentine's Day is evil." Peter felt this explained it all.

"'Dance of Misery' was implied with the words 'Valentine's Day.'" He nodded for emphasis.

"Oh, yikes," Sam said, wincing. "Sorry about that. If it makes you feel any better, I had to break up with my boyfriend's answering machine because I never saw him. Wednesday."

"We clean up okay," Sam said, wiggling slightly. It'd been a while since she wore leather. "And thanks. Though I can't take credit for the shoes. Those are Parker's."

"If I hear one sappy Phil Collins song, I will not be responsible for what I might do," Isabel declared as she walked up. "Bad enough I had to help decorate today."

"I fled from decorating. I had Journalism and a DUCKLINGS meeting as my excuse," Peter said, grinning. "You look great, by the way."

She smiled, "Thanks. I like the suit to, very handsome." She gestured at the decorations, "It was our assignment for Art Studio. There was no way to get out of it. Not when Callisto was there. Zero and I did manage to get some anti-Valentine artwork done. It should be around here somewhere."

"Please, we had to. Can you imagine what this place would be like if we didn't?" she laughed, "A sea of pink hearts." She finally spotted one of the poster's she'd made, hidden behind some balloons. "I'll third that opinion on Phil Collins, the literal-evil thing is definitely up for debate though." She grinned, "I'm sure we could find someone in fandom who could settle it one way or the other though."

"He has to be evil. Think of all work he's done for Disney over the last ten years." Isabel shuddered, "I'm willing to bet he wrote music for Bambi II. That's a definite sign of evil."
