Valentine's Day Dance. The Gym. 8.30 pm

The gym was decorated, the DJs were playing, and the punch was not yet spiked.

"Ah, yep. I went to a few of these out of curiosity, and a little because my mother made me, at my last school." She motioned her head towards the dancefloor, "ten minutes tops, and there will be someone with hideous clothes or dancemoves from the 80's to keep us entertained."

"As long as they look foolish, it's okay by me," Peter said. "I mostly managed to avoid these things. Except when I actually had a girlfriend, but that's a whole different perspective on the thing. Then it's mostly tolerable."

"When there isn't anyone to go to a dance with, the entire point seems a little lost on me." She sighed, "then again, I'm here. This is all part of my 'get out more' plan. I decided there is always the chance there might be some unexpected amusement, like drunken people or alien attack, the usual."

"I started small, or smaller anyway, by dragging myself out to the common room, and have been working my way up." She looks a little proud, "seems to be working. You should definitely join the effort. It can be more fun than it sounds."

"I do the common room thing once or twice a week. I think my next step is venturing out into town more. And after that, probably learn to juggle," Peter said seriously. "Because people love jugglers."

Mac blinked, "I've never heard that about jugglers before I must admit, but it's certainly a fun talent to have."

"As for town, I definitely recommend The Perk. That may just be the minor caffeine addict in me though. The record store is also pretty cool."

She nodded, "the owner was great about finding me music I'd like."

"I'm off to see if I can get some punch before anything happens to it," Mac said, gesturing behind her. "Just try and remember to stop me if it all turns pear shaped and I look like I might be about to make a fool of myself."
