BWI Airport, Portalocity Port, Saturday Morning

Timing had worked in Bruce's favor this morning. After a long overnight flight from Japan, he was really early for the shuttle to Fandom. That was according to plan. This way he'd get to see how people came into the room marked "Fandom High," whether they were nervous, or excited, or annoyed at the very thought of having to go to school.

Those first impressions didn't necessarily mean anything, but Bruce felt they often gave a good insight into how his new classmates would react in a stressful situation. You never knew when that kind of thing might come in handy.

Fraser was not the one driving. Fraser was the one assisting because no one wanted him to drive. It'd be a terrible thing. Nevertheless, Fraser was standing ramrod straight, smiling widely at the new students.

Claudia glanced between the uniformed, stick-up-his-butt looking dude and the man in the face covering pajamas. For the first time ever, the uniformed dude seemed to be the one who was less off-putting.

". . . Are all the bus drivers around here ninjas?"

"No," he informed her easily, shaking his head. "I'm not. I'm a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police but have never resembled a ninja. Professor Wilson is just...eccentric."

The 'ramrod straight' didn't really make Kurt feel at ease. "Is this a military school?" he had to ask. He hadn't THOUGHT it was...

"It's not a military school," Fraser assured him. "It's just a regular high school."

Well, that wasn't entirely true but Fraser thought Kurt would want to discover that on his own.

As soon as he saw the Canadian cop standing at the bus, Gunn swore under his breath and assumed the position against the bus to be patted down.

"Damn lawyers sent me across the country just to get busted," he grumbled.

Fraser squinted at the young man and maintained his position. "Are you all right, young man? Is there something I can help you with?"

There was a masked freak behind the wheel and a guy in uniform in front of the bus. It was enough to make Jacob pause.

"We're going to a school, right?" Jacob checked. "Because I think there's some kind of rule against getting in a car with a masked dude."

"He's harmless," Fraser said, waving that off. "He's on the school faculty and has been for years. I assure you, he's odd but he's trustworthy."

Ah, someone his own age -- and someone who carried himself like law enforcement, no less. Henry had been on the wrong end of a cop's bad day too often to entirely trust police, but if anyone knew if he was in the right place or not, it seemed like this man was a good place to start.

"Hi, excuse me, I'm supposed to start a job at Fandom High," he introduced himself. "Would you know if the shuttle is for staff, too? I feel a little out of place."

"It is, indeed. Welcome," Fraser said, extending a hand. "I'm Constable Benton Fraser, head of school security. The students tend to outnumber the adults so I understand feeling out of place."

"It is," he said, nodding his assent. "I'm attached to the Canadian consulate and working both as the head of school security and a liaison."

And Deadpool was driving. But he wasn't smiling, oh no. He was singing instead.

"Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na--Oh, I shouldn't end that or we might get sued..."

Masked races weren't uncommon in her galaxy, so Leia didn't bat an eye at the driver's appearance. "Excuse me, how long is the trip?" she asked as she boarded the bus.

Well, that was a uniform he hadn't seen before. "Are you sure it's a good idea to walk around dressed like that?" he asked. As popular as superheroes were on TV, the public wasn't so accepting of them in person.

"Huh." It was a bus. Four wheels. Kind of box-shaped. This was new and exciting, in a sense. Warren hadn't ever really been a passenger on anything less fancy than a Ferrari.

And the bus driver kind of looked like the stuff that action figures were made of, which was making this a slightly more novel first bus-ride experience, at that.

"That's a catchy tune," he offered, his bag slung over his back.

Dan stood in the doorway of the bus, not entirely sure if he was in the right place or not. Because there was a weirdo in the front seat, see.

The constable made some kind of sense to Henry.

The other person who seemed like he might be an adult ... not so much.

"So I hear there are shops in airports that sell normal clothes," he said. It was hard to tell from his tone if he thought this was actually helpful advice, or was just being a smartass. Probably a little of both.
