BWI Airport, Portalocity Port, Saturday Morning

Timing had worked in Bruce's favor this morning. After a long overnight flight from Japan, he was really early for the shuttle to Fandom. That was according to plan. This way he'd get to see how people came into the room marked "Fandom High," whether they were nervous, or excited, or annoyed at the very thought of having to go to school.

Those first impressions didn't necessarily mean anything, but Bruce felt they often gave a good insight into how his new classmates would react in a stressful situation. You never knew when that kind of thing might come in handy.

"So I take it we aren't supposed to mention the costume?" Henry said, figuring he had deserved the reaction. (But still shooting a glance over his shoulder to make sure no one was rushing to the other man's rescue.) "Sorry. I'm the new librarian. I may be a little over-caffeinated at the moment."

"My boss?" Henry said, taking the hand cheerfully and managing to avoid tacking on a seriously?. "Nice to meet you. It's Henry DeTamble, by the way."

The 'crazies,' he put down to more hazing.

"Ah, the librarian. I guess I can't call you Marian, then." Why yes, he did look sad. "Try not to get eaten by the books or anything."

"You could, I just probably wouldn't answer," Henry said. "I'll do my best. I've managed it so far."

Henry just hadn't encountered Fandom books before.

"Really?" Henry was intrigued. Most of his colleagues at the Newberry had been the same since he started, a decade and more ago. "I'm surprised. We don't tend to be a wandering breed."
