Multicultural Fair! [The Gym - After Classes]
The benefit of doing something like this for the second time meant that Joan and Turtle had a much easier time of setting things up since they knew what worked and what didn't.
Turtle had, once again, provided decorations from Turtle & Canary. There was the requisite refreshment table, though it was primarily there to provide beverages, since most of the booths featured culturally appropriate food.
After set up was complete, Joan and Turtle sat down to catch up while they waited for the fair to begin.
[wait for the ocd or Turtle will kick you in the shin OCD up! No shins were harmed in the making of this post!]

Bordertown -- 09/09.
Re: Bordertown -- 09/09.
DANCELAND
GODMOM'S PIZZA- Food so good it brings peace to the City.
TACO HELL- for the hottest mexican food in town.
Also advertised were shops like Elsewhere Used and Rare Books, Magic Freddy's, and Madam Wu's Chinese Food and Emporium.
The map had several areas marked with different colored borders. They indicated the turf of the three major gangs in Bordertown. Black for the Pack, Red for the True Bloods, and Grey for the Wharf Rats.
To the north was a rainbow colored border to mark the edge of Faery, and the south had an arrow pointing off the map that said: To The World. East and West was marked as "Never Never" There was a river running by that was labled: Mad River. Do Not Drink!
A sign on the table said:
ASK ME ABOUT: URBAN LEGENDS, GANGS, PLACES TO GO, THINGS TO SEE, HISTORY.
Music was playing on her seedy box from a band made up of Elves and Humans.
Muppets -- 09/09.
Re: Muppets -- 09/09.
"Hi ho every body and welcome to the Muppet Booth! Yes what you see before you is not a hallucination, or an illusion, a remote controled toy or an elaborate prank! I am a real talking frog! I sing, I act, I surf and ride a skateboard! I can play the banjo and the guitar! I'm fireproof, waterproof! I take a stompin' and keep on hoppin'!
He had prepared a multimedia presentation in the computer lab. There were some very good tutorials online.
He'd recorded himself in front of a red blanket. They looked like the curtains in the theater. "Muppets come in all forms. frogs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lRvhRhWWE44), Bears, Dogs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FnFQevPl_1o), Pigs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxmHfGQv2ac), Whatevers, even Humans (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4tRPEd_LGIQ), and Food (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrmBWtOWYsA)."
"And now I've prepared a selection of clips (http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=1E530E47387A5468&search_query=Muppets) for your entertainment and amazement, yaaaaaaay!!"
Kaeleer -- 09/09.
Re: Kaeleer -- 09/09.
People got hungry!
Otherwise, her booth was pretty bare. There were no flags, no food set out, no handouts to pass, and no illustrations to look at. Instead, wooden frame stood, nearly the same height as Karla, and inside that frame was an impressive-looking spider's web made out of silk. At various points in the web, blue chips glittered and glowed. Around the frame were several chairs for people to sit.
Karla was dressed in her Widow's Weeds; a black gown made of layers of spidersilk so thin her gown looked like it was made of mist and cobwebs. Her nails were painted a red so dark they nearly looked black, and her Sapphire pendant, ring, and drop earrings glowed.
After the success of last time, Karla looked pretty confident as she called, "Come experience Kaeleer for yourself!"
[OOC: Karla has created a tangled web, a kind of illusion that will allow the characters to relive some of her own memories from Kaeleer. They'll sit on the chairs, and suddenly find themselves in Kaeleer, with Karla acting as a guide, experiencing her memories from their own PoV. It'll (hopefully) be fun and is completely safe.]

The Underworld -- 09/09.
Re: The Underworld -- 09/09.
The Many Faces (and Fashions) of the Source of All Evil
Underneath that was:
The Source of All Evil is -- or, rather, was -- the ruler of the Underworld. The power of the Source is passed down through the bloodline or, in rare cases, through a magical bond. All other demons can sense the mantle of power of the Source and must obey him. He is the most powerful demon in the Underworld.
He also has terrible fashion sense.
Below each picture was some text to describe it.
Picture One
As demonstrated in here, one can see the Source was going for some sort of "evil angel" effect. I prefer to call this outfit "New Always Source with Wings!"
Picture Two
When Big Red didn't go over well, the Source switched to a more somber look, a simple black robe. Not even velvet. Tim Gunn would be very concerned.
Picture Three
This shows the Source going for a more intimidating looking by revealing his face. The scars and lack of an eye are impressive, but the effect is ruined by the questionable facial hair.
Picture Four
After that the Source decided just to start over and jump into a new body. Handsome devil, isn't he? Didn't last though, because the original owner didn't appreciate being hijacked.
Picture Five (with additional inset picture)
So then the Source jumped into the unborn child of his unwilling host. Unfortunately, this also meant he inherited the fashion sense of said baby's mother, which at times has been pretty scary.
Picture Six
Finally, realizing that phenomenal cosmic power meant little with an itty bitty living space, the Source allowed himself to be transplanted into the body of the Seer, version 1.0, she of the fabulous hair and voice. She embraced the simplicity of robes, but as you can see here, they're velvet and a lovely dark red. In a way, the fashion sense had come full circle, but the final results are much more stunning.
Drake, of course, was available for any questions.
[And yes, if you know Bel or Phoebe, feel free to recognize them from the pictures. :) ]

Greece -- 09/09.
Re: Greece -- 09/09.
Okay, he was. But only when people really deserved it. Especially Shinkickers.
Either way, there was a booth set up in Cal's spot, with a lot of white and blue and peppered with pictures for Cal's trip over the summer, of Greek-style churches that were really located in Turkey, but, shhh, no one would notice, right? The pictures weren't exactly the point of the booth, anyway.
The food was. There was plenty of food and Cal had missed making it for people, which only reminded him yet again that he really needed to talk to Lacey about getting his job back. For the moment, though, he was peddling his baklava (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baklava) and spanakopita (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanakopita) and lamb souvlaki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Souvlaki) on the visitors to the Multi-Culti Fair.
And, of course, the feature was the small set-up he had for saganaki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saganaki). Very safe set up. If he was going to be setting cheese on fire in the gym, he wanted to make sure he didn't get in trouble for it. There was a bucket of water underneath the table, and about two portable fire extinguishers. No burning the gym down for the sake of flaming fried cheese.
Though that would be kind of cool.

Narn -- 09/09.
Re: Narn -- 09/09.
There was also a small TV displaying the alien species common to his universe and their respective spacecraft. Scattered elsewhere on the table were handouts about Narn culture and history and sample or two of traditional clothing.
And of course, the Book of G'Quan sat on its own small table, placed carefully upon a black cloth. There was a small sign, Please do not touch the book without asking permission first. Thank you. It wasn't that G'Kar didn't want people to touch it per se, but he recalled all too vividly Mr. Garibaldi's thumping on the book cover.
(ooc: omg, sorry so late! school stuffs sucked me away for most of the day. *flails*)
Fire Nation -- 09/09.
Re: Fire Nation -- 09/09.
Just like everything Azula set out to do the Fire Nation booth was done perfectly and in meticulous detail. No expense was spared decorating this booth. Azula had the booth painted red with the Fire Nation Emblem (http://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/File:FireNationEmblem.png) painted on either side.
There were also hand painted pictures of select cities in the Fire Nation: the Capital City (http://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/File:Capital_002.jpg) (where the Royal Palace (http://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/File:Fire_Nation_Palace_002.JPG) was located); the Fire Fountain City (http://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/File:Fire_Fountain_City.png) and because people might think the Fire Nation was just a collection of cities Azula included the town of Shu Jing (http://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/File:Mango_City.png).
Near the painting of Shu Jing was the painting of the Ember Island (http://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/File:Ember_Island_001.jpg). The island is often frequented by the nobility. Activities in the island can range from lounging on the beach, playing Kuai Ball (http://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/Kuai_Ball) or visiting the Ember Island Theater (http://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/File:Theater.png) where the Ember Island Players are housed. Azula doesn't recommend the last one. It was probably the only free good advice she would ever give.
Another painting showcased the pride of the Fire Nation, its military (http://i909.photobucket.com/albums/ac300/fh_ir_reeseaz/cultural%20fest/Army021.jpg), which was a real military and not like the one in the reserves which was disappointingly very un-military like. Beside the military painting were paintings of the Fire Tanks (http://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/File:Fire_tank.jpg), Fire Navy ships and the airships and hot air balloons (http://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/File:Fire_Nation_Airships.png) of the Air Force.
The Great Gates of Azulon (http://i909.photobucket.com/albums/ac300/fh_ir_reeseaz/cultural%20fest/gatesofazulon.jpg) was also featured in the presentation together with Azula's personal ship (http://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/File:Necklaces.png).
There was a collection of Fire Nation dishes (http://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/File:Fire_Food.jpg) with accompanying chopsticks on the table. There were also snacks on display: Flaming Fire Flakes (http://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/Flaming_Fire_Flakes), Fire Gummies (http://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/Fire_Gummies) and Sizzle Crisps (http://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/Sizzle-Crisps).
Every single food on the table was 'burn your tongue, need water NOW, NOW, NOW!' hot.
And on at the very end of the display were the pictures of the former Fire Lord Ozai (http://i909.photobucket.com/albums/ac300/fh_ir_reeseaz/cultural%20fest/ozai.png) and the Current Fire Lord Zuko (http://i909.photobucket.com/albums/ac300/fh_ir_reeseaz/cultural%20fest/zukolord.png). It might be obvious which Fire Lord Azula favored more.
Azula stood by the booth wearing the Royal Fire Nation robes (http://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/File:Zuko-Azula-clothes.png) and her golden flame crown on her top knot ready to answer any inquiries regarding the Fire Nation.

whinyphone calls to his mommy and to Mr. Feeny had helped tremendously. There were Philly Cheesesteaks (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheesesteak) for people to try (no, don't worry, Eric didn't make them) and an assortment of Tastykakes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tastykake#Varieties).
And if people were interested in more than food, Eric also had a replica of the Liberty Bell (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberty_Bell), some Phillies (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philadelphia_Phillies) memorabilia (from their 1980 World Series win; he still didn't know about the recent one), and a copy of the Declaration of Independence (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Declaration_of_Independence).
