Multicultural Fair! [The Gym - After Classes]

The benefit of doing something like this for the second time meant that Joan and Turtle had a much easier time of setting things up since they knew what worked and what didn't.

Turtle had, once again, provided decorations from Turtle & Canary. There was the requisite refreshment table, though it was primarily there to provide beverages, since most of the booths featured culturally appropriate food.

After set up was complete, Joan and Turtle sat down to catch up while they waited for the fair to begin.

[wait for the ocd or Turtle will kick you in the shin OCD up! No shins were harmed in the making of this post!]

Cal gave Dinah a little bit of a look.

"There isn't even anything on fire yet!"

"So what are you waiting for?" Dinah asked back, mischievous, and loading up a plate with souvlaki. "I missed this! Dude, seriously. Flame on!"

"Patience, patience!" Cal said, making sure he had a lemon ready as he grabbed the blowtorch and a plate of cheese. "You can't rush good saganaki, little lady. Although it is nice to know that at least my flaming cheese has been missed."

"Of course! It's sad to not have Greek Friday any more." Dinah grinned at him and nibbled on her food. "I'm sure that's why the harem girls wanted to keep you. Among other possibilities."

"Ugh, I know!" Cal scrunched up his face a little. "Those harem girls just could not get enough of my Greek food. Or," sure, hell, she fed it to him, why not? And with the prospect of tomorrow and their little game of chicken that lead up to it... "my...other...fine...Greek...attributes."

Cal sent a sharp smirk over the table at Dinah, just long enough to fill the pause before he started the fire and touched it to the cheese, to send up a blast of heat to go along with what he imagined might potentially come off as a smoldering gaze.

For all he knew, he just looked idiotic doing it.

Fifty-fifty, smoldering-silly, and either way, Dinah would've started snickering. The pinkness, that was just heat from the flames. Right? Exactly. Yup. Looking away cost her points in the Chicken game, but she got a grip on herself and looked back as challengingly as she could. "You know, now I'm wondering if it's as good as I remember. The souvlaki's great, but..."

Cal squeezed the lemon over the flames dancing over the cheese, deeply breathing in the citrusy smell. "Opa!" he said, a little dull after all his efforts had gone into that look, but then he cut Dinah a slice and passed it over.

"I bet it's even better than you remember," he said, smirking over the plate.

"Opa!" Dinah dove into it, giving him a grin, and then sighed happily. "Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm." The smile and expression didn't even leave room for doubt there, not really.

Just because it didn't leave room for doubt didn't mean that Cal wasn't going to wheedle for details.

"Weeeell?"

"Nom," Dinah finally said, swallowing and smiling. "Yuuuuuummy. More Please. Now's good."

"You are so demanding!" Cal complained, yet he did so without hesitating to serve Dinah another piece.
