Multicultural Fair! [The Gym - After Classes]

The benefit of doing something like this for the second time meant that Joan and Turtle had a much easier time of setting things up since they knew what worked and what didn't.

Turtle had, once again, provided decorations from Turtle & Canary. There was the requisite refreshment table, though it was primarily there to provide beverages, since most of the booths featured culturally appropriate food.

After set up was complete, Joan and Turtle sat down to catch up while they waited for the fair to begin.

[wait for the ocd or Turtle will kick you in the shin OCD up! No shins were harmed in the making of this post!]

Eric had no idea how he had managed to end up signed up for something like this, but a few whiny phone calls to his mommy and to Mr. Feeny had helped tremendously.

There were Philly Cheesesteaks (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheesesteak) for people to try (no, don't worry, Eric didn't make them) and an assortment of Tastykakes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tastykake#Varieties).

And if people were interested in more than food, Eric also had a replica of the Liberty Bell (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberty_Bell), some Phillies (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philadelphia_Phillies) memorabilia (from their 1980 World Series win; he still didn't know about the recent one), and a copy of the Declaration of Independence (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Declaration_of_Independence).

"Those look very unhealthy," Ellie said, eying the cheesesteaks. "But also very good."

Yeah, she was going to try one.

Eric grinned and pushed his hair back. "They're awesome," he said. "And they have vegetables!"

Because fried onions and peppers totally counted as healthy, right?

"They certainly do," Ellie chuckled. "How are you doing, Eric?"

He was her bother's roommate. She figured it was a good idea to make an effort to get along with him.

"Doing great!" Eric said. "I love this school. How are you, Chuck's hot sister?"

"Ellie," she corrected. "And I'm doing well. Classes are interesting and I'm eating a cheesesteak. Can't complain."

"Got any plans for this weekend?" Eric asked oh-so-suavely.

"Not that I know of," Ellie said, wondering if she should have made something up. Too late now.

"Want to catch a movie or something?" Eric asked.

Ellie thought about it for a moment. On the one hand, Eric was not really her type. On the other, he was her brother's roommate and she figured it was best to be nice. Besides, movies meant they didn't actually have to talk much. "Sure, a movie sounds fun."

She was totally not calling it a date.

Eric totally did a little fistpump of victory. "Awesome! I'll pick you up at six on Saturday?"

Ellie noticed the fistpump and was already regretting this. "Sure, that works for me."
