Heroing [Tuesday, period 2, class #2]

"Hello, class!" Captain Hammer bellowed as soon as everyone was seated. "Today, we're going to talk about sounding heroic. In order to strike true fear into your nemesis...es. Nemesiseses. Nemisi...." He shook his head. "Bad people you fight! In order to strike fear into their hearts, they need to hear you coming. Now, some people believe in 'battlecries.'"

Captain Hammer's use of airquotes didn't necessarily indicate any sarcasm. It more indicated that he didn't know how to use airquotes.

"Which are fine and good. I prefer to just speak loudly at every opportunity! Some heroes like to sing, and that's fine too. Other heroes like to...talk to their villains. And a lot of villains talk back." He shook his head. "They think they're 'witty.' Anyway, class! Your job today is to pair up and hold a heroic conversation! Do it loudly! Sing if you want! Use catch phrases! 'Banter!' Just be heroic while you talk to each other!"

[OCD is coming up, lol forgot to strike this out.]

Romeo listened. He was pretty sure air quotes didn't work like that.

Lion-o didn't take notes. He did think about the subject and recalled that most of the Thundercats were pretty talkative, even in battle.

Hannibal loved this class. This guy was better than television.

Ben remembered the last battle he'd witnessed. As far as he could recall, his father hadn't said a single word.

The image of Luke bursting into song was enough to almost make Ben burst out laughing in the middle of class.

Adora was...amazed by class. Captain Hammer's lecture was stunning, in a very confusing way.

Savannah was still trying to figure out how she ended up in this class.

Notes? Who needed notes?

Sokka ALREADY considered demoralizing the opponent with witty banter to be an important part of battle. It was, after all, one of the two superpowers of Snark-o-rang.

The guy was freaking amusing. Johnny loved this class.

Anemone did her best to take notes, but she was confused. In all her experiences, the 'heroes' didn't usually banter with her.

Screaming, yes, and occasional heart-felt declarations of 'I'll stop you!', but not so much on the witticisms.

Oh, hey. This lesson was touching on one of the topics that hero class in his old school never had the chance to.

He was paying attention. Loud was better. Okay, sure.

Tahiri was, by the end of class, pretty convinced that the teacher wasn't using airquotes so much as he just had some kind of weird tic or nervous habit.

Okay, banter made sense to someone who'd grown up around Han Solo's kids.

But singing?

Sure, they'd had a Bith Jedi with them on the Myrkr mission (poor Ulaha), but she hadn't been along for that.

Tahiri had a sudden, vivid, but thankfully brief mental image of Tesar Sebatyne bursting into song mid-fight, and proceeded to bury her face in her arms on her desk to smother the inevitable giggle attack.

Hmm, singing, that's something he hadn't considered. Maybe he needed a theme song.

Andros remembered his battle with Darkonda, he was pretty sure the conversation that they had had during the fight involved a fair bit of banter.

Momoko hadn't considered volume as a weapon. Could being loud really help? She scribbled in her notebook 'yell at Mojo, etc - may help' then looked doubtfully at it. Yeah, probably not.

Yelling at each other? Really? Romeo hummed a little to clear his throat as he looked for someone to work with.

Catchphrases, too? Ben smirked as he tried to imagine his dad doing well, any of this, as he looked around for a partner.

Never having been a teaching assistant before, Adora wasn't positive that what she was doing was right, but she sat at her desk, clearing her throat should any loud talking be needed.

Sometimes, your OOC icon just speaks to you.

But don't tell people if yours starts. They'll think you're crazy or something.
