Junior Achievers 2nd Meeting

Outside of Dr. Carter's classroom is a neatly handwritten sign which says:

Junior Achievers Meeting

All are welcome

Tonight's topics include:

1. Welcoming new members


2. JA's role in the upcoming Student Council Elections


3. Discussion: Has the yearbook staff overshadowed our hopes for the bake sale?


4. Any new business


5. Any words of wisdom from Dr. Carter

Free food provided.

The door to the classroom is wide open. The teacher's desk is vacant, awaiting Dr. Carter. On the desk is an open box of brownies from Deb's Diner.

Angelus sits on top of one of the student desks with his feet resting on the chair of the desk in front of him. He leafs through a notebook, occasionally jotting things down as they occur to him. He is dressed in the same black on black ensemble that he had on earlier in the day, but the pin he wore in Study Hall is missing.

Angelus occasionally hums a cheery tune to himself, and occasionally shakes his head as though disbelieving his own inner thoughts.

Anakin walks into the room exactly on time because he's anal that way.

He's trying to stop a huge grin from spreading across his face, but it creeps back when he's not paying attention.

He makes a beeline for the brownies, then remembers the yearbook food and stops.

"These aren't going to do anything strange to me, are they?" he asks.

"Hand to God they're just from the diner," Angelus ripped a piece of paper out of his notebook and handed it to Anakin. Across the top it read "SIGN IN SHEET" and had Angelus's name scrawled below it in the first spot. He gave Anakin a friendly grin. "No way I'm eating anything with a special surprise inside."

Faith walks into the classroom and makes a beeline for the brownies. "Man, seriously? I'd be shwoing up a lot later if it weren't for the free food."

"I know you only come for my goodies," Angelus told her. "Grab the sign in sheet when Anakin's done with it."

Belthazor walked into the room, trying hard to appear casual. "Hey," he said in greeting to Angelus and Anakin, then grabbed a brownie. Not as good as Piper's, he couldn't help but think.

"Hey Linds," Angelus tucked his notebook back into his bag. He gave Lindsey a look of geniune curiosity. "Where do you stand on debating? For it? Against it? Kiss of death?"

Draco walks in and spots the brownies instantly. He shoves one in his mouth. Mmmmm chocolate.

"Drac, come, sit, grab the sign-in sheet from whoever's got it," Angelus waved him in. "We're just waiting for a few more folks to get here before we start."

John Conner walks through the door, spys the brownies, and starts munching.

"John," Angelus grinned a broad and welcoming grin. "So glad you could make it. Have a seat. The sign-in sheet's floating around here somewhere."

When the influx of students started to die down, Angelus decided to kick start the meeting. He picked a topic at random.

"Okay, still waiting to see if any of the other new members make it," Angelus said, "but in the meanwhile there's enough of the old crowd here for me to ask: should we totally scrap the bake sale considering what happened with the Yearbook fund raiser?"

Belthazor munches on a brownie. "I don't know, man, every single person in here went straight for the brownies. Gotta mean something."

"As you all know," Angelus said, "tonight's meeting is a special one in which we welcome new members. Perhaps those who are joining us for the first time would like to stand and say a little something about themselves?"

Anakin waved at the group, feeling a little self-conscious. "Hi, I'm Anakin Skywalker. I'm in the dorms on the fourth floor, enjoy Advanced Negotiations and hand-to-hand combat, and hate yearbook food."

Dr. Carter sits amused in the corner and files her nails, leaving metal shavings behind.

"Hey Doc," Angelus gave her a big smile. "Always glad to see you."

"Student Council elections are coming up," Angelus said. He might have glanced at the door suspiciously, as though making sure nobody was eavesdropping. Or perhaps he was only looking to see if any late arrivals were coming. "Tomorrow night's the debate. On that note, I feel it's important to stress that JA as a whole only wants the best for Fandom High. That means that as head of JA I cannot officially endorse any student."

Angelus turned to Bel. "Hate to say it, but you know those plans we were talking about?"

Beka entered, still dressed in the little black skirt, black boots, and white silk blouse from her meeting with Angelus. At first, she leaned up against the doorframe, arms crossed over her chest and just watched. She might not be a vampire, but invitations worked for her too.
