Junior Achievers 2nd Meeting

The door to the classroom is wide open. The teacher's desk is vacant, awaiting Dr. Carter. On the desk is an open box of brownies from Deb's Diner.

Angelus sits on top of one of the student desks with his feet resting on the chair of the desk in front of him. He leafs through a notebook, occasionally jotting things down as they occur to him. He is dressed in the same black on black ensemble that he had on earlier in the day, but the pin he wore in Study Hall is missing.

Angelus occasionally hums a cheery tune to himself, and occasionally shakes his head as though disbelieving his own inner thoughts.

John nods. "Everything does. Sometimes you can find a path out of the dark, though."

"I'll have to remember that."

John closed his eyes.

"You have to find the balance between the candle and the shadow."

He opened his eyes and physically shook himself, and helped himself to another brownie.

"Oooh. Obscure quotations. One of my old teachers had a billion of them. 'Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter,' was one of his favorites."

Anakin snagged another brownie and tried not to be too strange.

*John nearly choked on his brownie*

"So we're here at this Junior Achiever meeting to spout depressive poetry? I think we took a wrong turn somewhere," he managed to say while laughing.

"Seriously. What was that about?" Anakin laughed, looking around to make sure that Angelus, or worse, Belthazor, wasn't listening to them. "Not exactly part of the reputation of this group on campus." He shrugged. "Not that I listen to rumors. So far I see a whole lot of brownie eating and a decided lack of taking over the world."

"So THAT'S what this is for. I need to start gathering intel. And question that damn Kawalksy. Well, if I'm going to take over the world, I'll need help."

Anakin laughed. "Well, you might be in the right place. Not that I'm planning on taking over the world. I figure that I can learn a lot from such a driven group of individuals."

"I'm still just checking things out. Not sure if these people would be compadres or competition."

"Damn, these are good brownies."

"Rumors are a sad, sad thing," Angelus said. "I've been at the heart of the worst of them. Even now I'm finding out about yet another student trying to spread the word that I'm a bad, evil creature who stalks and threatens his fellow classmates. Now I ask you, do I look like the sort of fellow who would do such a thing?"

Anakin snorted. "Another one? I don't know how you can take it. Going around your day constantly harassed by beings who won't take the time to know you, insisting on deciding your character based on hearsay." He looked at Angelus. "You're far more patient than I'd be in the same situation."

[OOC: God, he really believes this, too, *snickers*]

"Sad but true," Angelus said. "Worse yet, they leap to punish me without having any evidence. You know, if I've done the crime I'll do the time, but is it so much to ask for a trial around here?"

"That really is ridiculously unfair." Anakin's eyes blaze. "We're right back to where we were before the weapons ban, with the fear and the hate for no. good. reason." He reached up and massaged his temples. "They're all giving me a headache."

"I'm feeling the same thing," Angelus said. "Plus - and I don't say this as the head of JA, but as a student - I don't like how the non-humans aren't getting a huge say in this upcoming election."

"There is a bit of an obvious skew towards perky females, isn't there?" Anakin smiled at Faith. "Present company excepted, of course."

"I'm not a big fan of politics, but I even I can see that inaccurate representation on the council could lead to escalations in already volatile relations between students." He shrugged. "A little late now to do anything about though, isn't it?"

"Actually I was talking with Dean Bristow about that earlier today," Angelus said. "There might be some hope in that area if you're willing to help me."

[ooc: And which Angelus must sadly be vague on details as in real time the meeting is happening now and Bristow's mun has been afk for hours]

Anakin leaned forward. "I'd be willing."

[OOC: Whenever you hear let me know. :)]

"Excellent," Angelus said. "It's all very last minute, so I hope you don't mind the rush. I just don't want any one group of students bullying their way into office. The students deserve to truly vote for the candidate they want."

"Negotiation is what I do," Anakin said. "I might not be good at it compared to my old teacher, but even I can see that the current situation is unacceptable. We should seek to find a better, more equitable solution."

"How about organization?" Angelus said. "For what I have in mind we'll probably need that and fast."

"Sure. What do you need done?"

Angelus gave a rueful smile. "What don't I need done? You going to be around tomorrow? Especially in the morning and afternoon?"

[ooc: same question]

"I only have one class in the morning--the rest of the day is free. I'm all yours."

[OOC: Pacific Time, but doing nothin' all day]

"Excellent," Angelus said. "I'm creating a group that's going to be non-partisan and with the goal of trying to provide the students of Fandom High with more information about all of the candidates. I'm thinking ads, spots on Fandom Radio - the works. And if that wasn't bad enough, I want to organize an event where the write-in candidates get a chance to take the stage and speak their minds. Only catch is that last one has to happen this Thursday night or not at all. You in for helping me?"

[ooc: Guess who just got IC approval?]

"That sounds like a great idea," Anakin said. "I'm absolutely in."
