Junior Achievers 2nd Meeting

Outside of Dr. Carter's classroom is a neatly handwritten sign which says:

Junior Achievers Meeting

All are welcome

Tonight's topics include:

1. Welcoming new members


2. JA's role in the upcoming Student Council Elections


3. Discussion: Has the yearbook staff overshadowed our hopes for the bake sale?


4. Any new business


5. Any words of wisdom from Dr. Carter

Free food provided.

The door to the classroom is wide open. The teacher's desk is vacant, awaiting Dr. Carter. On the desk is an open box of brownies from Deb's Diner.

Angelus sits on top of one of the student desks with his feet resting on the chair of the desk in front of him. He leafs through a notebook, occasionally jotting things down as they occur to him. He is dressed in the same black on black ensemble that he had on earlier in the day, but the pin he wore in Study Hall is missing.

Angelus occasionally hums a cheery tune to himself, and occasionally shakes his head as though disbelieving his own inner thoughts.

"As you all know," Angelus said, "tonight's meeting is a special one in which we welcome new members. Perhaps those who are joining us for the first time would like to stand and say a little something about themselves?"

Anakin waved at the group, feeling a little self-conscious. "Hi, I'm Anakin Skywalker. I'm in the dorms on the fourth floor, enjoy Advanced Negotiations and hand-to-hand combat, and hate yearbook food."

"Understandable," Angelus reached over to give Anakin a supportive pat on the shoulder. "Still, I think you're doing great under the circumstances."

"That's what we're here to discuss," Angelus said. "Obviously the election's important to a lot of folks. Plus I'm sure there's other ways we could be helping out our fellow students. Ideas for Parents' Weekend, for instance."

"I'm looking, too. Maybe the Emporium? I know that the diner in town was advertising for their 80s attire, but I make enough of an ass of myself dancing without having to add on the humiliation of dancing in an out-of-date suit from a culture I know nothing about."

Beka moved to a sport near the front of the room. "I'm Beka, Beka Valentine. Formerly of Parker's slate. I was leaving because they're short-sighted. I left, because we had an argument about my allegiances."

She nods at Angelus. "I'm here, because I'm pragmatic, and this group is more effective than the others."

"I've often felt that about JA," Angelus nodded towards John, his demeanor friendly, and gently teasing. "You might explain that to him. Apparently he's not sure if he likes us yet."
