Arts & Crafts 3, Tuesday Afternoon, Main Campfire

This afternoon Steve was standing over a table of useless junk. At each of the tables for workshoppers were glue, glitter, paint, and pipe cleaners.

"Today we're going to work on improvisational art," Steve said. "I've...handwavily appropriated some items from a store in town." He'd tried to pay, but there didn't seem to be anyone to pay. "You are to incorporate at least one of them into your project. Make whatever you want. Go wild. Have fun."

After a moment of silence, he added as a sort of footnote, "The theme of your project should be, 'Why the Superhuman Registration Act is a bad idea and will never work.'"

Charlie had no idea what the Superhuman Registration Act was, but after listening to Steve explain it to a couple people, and getting a shock of visceral horror, she grabbed the Barbies, and the forks, and, well. Made a diorama.

THE RESULTS OF REGISTRATION: REALLY BAD

Sad, disassembled Barbies with forks in them. Charlie was working on making a little prison fence around the dead Barbie bodies. The broken snow-globe was off to the side, providing context.

Mikey didn't know what the superhuman registration act was, but he was fairly certain it didn't apply to him, because he was really more of a superturtle anyhow, right?

Whatever the case might have been, he opted to take the broken lightbulbs that had been arranged into a smiley face.

He then set himself to the task of rearranging them into a frowny face.

Seely attempted to make a costume out of the painted horseshoe and rusty hub-cap.

After hearing what the SHRA was, Savannah was feeling horrified and pretty somber. As of yet, she hadn't grabbed anything as she was staring down at her sketch pad with a frown.

Raph was still being a drama queen. Stupid snowflake. "Okay, okay, okay," he said, waving his hand around in a circular motion. "But what does this have to do with me?"

Teddy put the soup can with the toxic warning down on the table and left it at that.

Call it avant-garde.

Johnny was certain there was no such thing as the Superhuman Registration Act. But he was going to protest it regardless. Anything against superhuman was bad. Way bad.

To demonstrate this, he took off his shirt and glittered up his body, using himself as his art project. He then broke up the other half of the N'Sync CD and glued the pieces onto his chest for added shininess. Yes, perfect! He was perfect!

(A snowflake (http://community.livejournal.com/fhplotterywheel/70687.html) fell on Johnny's head this morning. He thinks he's perfect. Everybody wants him.)

Animal took the half can of pineapple suit and painted it in red and yellow.

He then shouted "IRON CAN! IRON CAN!" and smashed the hell out of it sending some pineapple bits spraying everywhere.

"HA! HA! HA!"

Sometimes, Setsuna's sense of representation was a little...visceral but she would swear she was only putting a modern twist on a very traditional theme in ancient samurai artistic tradition.

She took some pipe cleaners; she painted them red. She bunched them all together with glitter to make a huge mass, and then shoved them into the broken blender so that they, meant to represent a heart from a man's chest, leaked out from the cracks in the container part, spilling out from the gaping bottom. A few glitter pipe cleaners trailed down the broken base, trails of blood.

And that...just about represented her thoughts regarding what she knew about the Superhuman Registration Act.

Cassie was fuming, doing her best not to cry. She grabbed the 'going out of business sign', and first painted a matte red layer across it. After that dried, she merely painted some words in white.

'Because Selfish Heroes Can't Accept Change'

And as an added thought, she added in blue paint at the bottom:

'And Get Goliath Killed.'

Since Haku didn't really know much about the Superhumans registration act... really only what he'd talked to Teddy about. It still sounded similar to what happened when he was young.

So by the end Haku had a small wooden house made of popsicle sticks, surrounded by cotton to be the snow, and half the house was destroyed by large ice crystals made from pipe cleaners and celophane.

You'd really have to ask.

Alec heard the explanations of the SHRA, but it took him a moment to figure out what he wanted to do.

He ended up using the twisty-tie dog in a diorama, having it bark at the fishbowl full of dead minnows.

Naminé thought for a long moment, and then selected the pamphlet on Abstinence Only Sexual Education for Young Teens. She set it out in the center of the area in front of her. On one side she placed the box of cheesecloth condoms, and on the other the instructions for a laundry line winder, poorly translated from the Japanese.

It made perfect sense to her. But you were totally free to ask.

Carmela takes the Rubik's cube and very carefully paints each square with a different colour of glitter-paint. Some of the glitter-paint is mixed a little at the edges of the squares. This is totally intentional.

People need to stop being afraid of what's different. she writes on a piece of cardboard she's placed in front of the cube. It's the differences that make the world beautiful. And whether that difference is the colour of your skin or your ability to fly or bend spoons or whatever, nobody should try and regulate you just for being what you *are*.

Jude was rocking back and forth on the bench and twitching as he played with something that went 'poing!'.

He was also occasionally slurping from an oversized cup of Caf-Pow.

That would probably account for the twitching. And the cackling.

Demyx had no idea what he was doing. He took the blender out of the random junk and put the dog-shaped twistie-ties in it. After trying to form them into the shape of a person, which wasn't quite successful.

It looked fine to him, anyway!

Will frowned. Captain Liberty had mentioned any act in the superhero class last semester, and she certainly hadn't heart about that back home. Not that many people back home knew about the superhero thing, but still.

Before starting on her art project, she made a beeline straight for the teacher. "Uh, Mr Steve? What is Superhuman Registration Act?"
