Ethics [Monday, April 16, 5th period]

Anakin was standing next to his desk watching a little girl in a pink hat coloring a picture.

He looked exhausted.

"Okay," he said when the students arrived. "This week we're scheduled to talk about the ethics of parenting. I didn't make the little ones appear!" he said quickly. "I was going to give you egg babies instead."

He pointed at the crate of eggs on his desk. "So you're still getting paired up because it's your final project for class, but I'm sure many of you have more insights on this area than you would have, oh, say, Saturday." He smiled wryly. "And I'm guessing a life of celibacy is looking fairly appealing."

He pulled out a list of names. "Anyway. Here are your parenting teams. Take an egg, name it, give it a backstory, and bring it back in one piece this time next week. Listen for your name, then pair up and chat.

Marco and Molly
Katara and Sam
Balthier and Turtle
Irulan and Dean
Walter and Valentine
Jake and Blair
Kaoru and Neil
Draco and Steerpike
John and Jaye."

Anakin smiled. "So...anyone have stories to share?"

Walter sat down to wait for Valentine. This seemed more than a touch redundant, not that he could fault Anakin for his scheduling. Who would have planned for sudden appearances of kids?

Valentine sat across from Walter, eying the egg thoughtfully.
"Are you sure we can't eat it?"

Steerpike hadn't, actually, noticed the sudden influx of kids. He'd been off the island all day yesterday, tracking down a decent mask to cover the burns on his face.

Now, though, well. He was rather amused.

Draco, thankfully, hadn't had a kid pop up and impose on him this weekend. So he was also pretty amused at seeing everyone else take care of actual kids.

"So...do you want to name the egg?" said Draco.

Balthier, huh? Turtle was not sniggering into her hand as she waited to pair up with him, really.

Actually, she was pretty happy with the pairing. It wasn't, like, Jake or anyone, but at least it wasn't Marco or Valentine, ugh.

Jake was holding on to a thermos mug full of coffee while his head was firmly attached to the desk. "I am never having kids."

Sam waited for Katara, and wondered if there would ever be a time that the word "children" wouldn't make him twitch.

John? Trying to make Umberta calm the hell down. Aeryn had agreed to watch D'Argo but she refused to watch the demonspawn. Umberta, for her part, is happily skipping circles around John and hitting him with her wand.

This assignment? Totally going to be a breeze, Dean thought. Especially in comparsion of trying to run herd on the tribe of Winchester kids that they've been doing the last 24 hours or so.
