Ethics [Monday, April 16, 5th period]

Anakin was standing next to his desk watching a little girl in a pink hat coloring a picture.

He looked exhausted.

"Okay," he said when the students arrived. "This week we're scheduled to talk about the ethics of parenting. I didn't make the little ones appear!" he said quickly. "I was going to give you egg babies instead."

He pointed at the crate of eggs on his desk. "So you're still getting paired up because it's your final project for class, but I'm sure many of you have more insights on this area than you would have, oh, say, Saturday." He smiled wryly. "And I'm guessing a life of celibacy is looking fairly appealing."

He pulled out a list of names. "Anyway. Here are your parenting teams. Take an egg, name it, give it a backstory, and bring it back in one piece this time next week. Listen for your name, then pair up and chat.

Marco and Molly
Katara and Sam
Balthier and Turtle
Irulan and Dean
Walter and Valentine
Jake and Blair
Kaoru and Neil
Draco and Steerpike
John and Jaye."

Anakin smiled. "So...anyone have stories to share?"

Jake raised his hand. "Does anyone know how to send them back? I'm so not ready for parenthood yet."

Trudi gave Jake a pout. She wasn't ready to go home yet. This Daddy let her get away with a lot more and she still hadn't seen Luke yet.

"I'm sure people are working on it," Anakin said with a nod. "How many younglings are you...dealing with?"

"Three at the moment," Jake said with a sigh, then he winced. "Probably four once Parker catches up with me again."

"I want my mommy," John said and tried to hide from Umberta.

"Coward," Umberta told him and poked the wand in his ear. "Mummy said you're a good for nothing."

Anakin smiled. "Who's this?" he asked, crouching down.

Umberta stared at him. "You have hair like a girl's!"

Lysander frowned at John. "Aren't you a bit old for that?"

Umberta stepped in front of John before John could reply.

"Who're you?"

Lysander was looking very broody studious, and like he belonged there in the class.

Anakin gave him a small smile.

Trudi, across the room, was giving him a much broader one.

Lysander nodded back with a small grin and waved to Trudi.

Trudi ripped a piece of paper from her pad, added a few crayons, then reached into the Force and hurtled the whole package towards Lysander with a grin.

"So how many little Skywalkers did you end up with?" Dean asked curiously.

"Just Trudi so far," Anakin said a little wistfully. "I half-expect to run into a tiny version of Luke or his sister when I round a corner, though."

Or versions of him and someone else, but he wasn't exactly going to articulate that.

"How many Winchesters are there?" he asked. "I lost track during the broadcast last night."

"Altogether? Nine, if you count the sudden two little sisters Sammy and I have. Seven if you're just talking Sammy and me. I've got three, my precocious little brother has four."

Jaye would be pointing at OJ- still waving at Anakin- and mouthing "CHILD SUPPORT OH EM GEE".

Anakin took one look at the boy and burst out laughing.

It was a long time before he stopped.
