Book Fair

Giles had gotten up at ack o'clock and actually had toted five boxes of books to the Fandom High Gym before he "cheated."

Everything was now set up neatly on tables, and separated by genre.

There was also coffee and hot water urns, bottled water, and a variety of pastries and breads set on a table near the register.

The First Annual Fandom High Book Fair was open for business.

[ooc: Hang on to your collective hats while I get the OCD threads up, please.

Threads are UP. Whew. I think you all know how this works. Go look for a book. Up to you whether you find it or not. No, there is no magic/new age section. Yes, Giles has planned it that way.

That's it! Go to town! Wait. No. Stay here and buy stuff...]

Tea. Made by someone who knows how to make it. And who is Walter to turn down free refreshments?

"Well, it's to early for beer (http://www.xs4all.nl/~patto1ro/swedintr.htm)..." Pippi mused, "If you want to talk about rich... Or at least, somebody somewhere thinks it's to early for beer. I'm not sure who."

Peter grinned at Walter as he also took a cup of properly made British tea. "How do you do, Walter?"

Re: Refreshments

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-06-09 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Walter grinned back and held up his cup in a wordless toast. "Quite well, other than the frogs that decided my room was their new habitat. How are you enjoying your introductions to Fandom's oddities?"

Re: Refreshments

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-06-09 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm still thankful the skies didn't decide to rain true figgy pudding on us the other day. That could have been painful," Peter replied. "I'm not so keen on the frogs though.

Re: Refreshments

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-06-09 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Walter nodded. "I preferred the kittens to the frogs." Little amphibious voyeurs. "But at least none of these things have attacked, unlike the snow monsters."

Re: Refreshments

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-06-09 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes, the kittens didn't scare anyone," Peter said. "And they were awfully cute. Maybe they're all massing their forces? And tomorrow we'll face an attack from all sides - pudding from the sky, coffee from the water, and kittens and frogs as ground troops." He made a face. "I really ought not to have said that."

Ohmigod, Tea! Sakurazaki sips happily after purousing, realizing that she definately hasn't been drinking enough tea since she got here.

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-06-09 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter bowed to Sakurazaki and grinned at her appreciation of the tea. "Good afternoon."

Sakurazaki smiles as she nods to the polite boy who's name she can't remember. Well, she can remember his last name, but she was trying to get away from that habit. "Good afternoon; enjoying the books?"

Re: Refreshments

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-06-10 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
"Most definitely," Peter replied. "I've found several interesting ones. And yourself?"

Re: Refreshments

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-06-10 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
"A few," she nods, with a bit of a shy smile. "It's still difficult for me to really read well in English, but there's a few that caught my eye."

Re: Refreshments

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-06-10 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
"How long have you been reading English," Peter asked. "Your spoken language is very good."

Yay bannana bread! Tim took two slices and some water.

Tempe grabbed a bottle of water, and a blueberry muffin. And, of course, a tuna sandwich which had mysteriously appeared there for the kitties.

She went off to find a seat.

Re: Refreshments

[identity profile] notcalledlizzie.livejournal.com 2006-06-10 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Hey, Tempe," Elizabeth smiled across at her as she balanced her books whilst grabbing a coffee and a brownie. She grinned at the kitties. "I see you've made some new friends."

Re: Refreshments

[identity profile] fatalvoyage.livejournal.com 2006-06-10 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
"Hey, Elizabeth," Tempe said, taking a sip of her water and breaking up the sandwich for the kitties. "I haven't seen you for awhile. Everything going okay?"

Tempe placed the plate with the sandwich on the floor, and watched as the kitties all raced for it, some tripping over each other or their own four feet, and landing in a heap.

"Oh yes. These guys won't stop following me around. And Silver Fox and Goldilocks," she said, indicating the grey-furred kitty on her right shoulder and the golden-furred kitty on her left shoulder, respectively. "Seem even more intent on never leaving me alone."

She demonstrated by attempting to pick Goldilocks off her shoulder by the scruff of her neck. The weetiny kitty clung.

[identity profile] notcalledlizzie.livejournal.com 2006-06-10 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, not too bad. Went to see some friends who were back in the country at the weekend and then I've mostly been reading and writing this week," Elizabeth explained. "How's things been with you?"

She giggled, and reached out to pet the nearest kitten. "They're very cute. The kittens have mostly been leaving me alone; do you think they can tell I'm a dog-person or something?!"

Re: Refreshments

[identity profile] fatalvoyage.livejournal.com 2006-06-10 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
"Pretty good," Tempe replied. "Lots of reading and writing for me as well. A couple of basketball practices, one marathon cookie-baking session, and I've made some new friends. Though I have a feeling that most of that can be attributed to the cookies."

The black and white weetiny kitty leaned into the hand that was petting him. Yep, he could sense that she didn't like weetiny kitties as much as she probably liked weetiny puppies, but he figured if he acted cute enough, she might change her mind.

"You're lucky, actually," Tempe said. "At least they've left you alone and haven't tried to smother you in your sleep."
