Book Fair

Giles had gotten up at ack o'clock and actually had toted five boxes of books to the Fandom High Gym before he "cheated."

Everything was now set up neatly on tables, and separated by genre.

There was also coffee and hot water urns, bottled water, and a variety of pastries and breads set on a table near the register.

The First Annual Fandom High Book Fair was open for business.

[ooc: Hang on to your collective hats while I get the OCD threads up, please.

Threads are UP. Whew. I think you all know how this works. Go look for a book. Up to you whether you find it or not. No, there is no magic/new age section. Yes, Giles has planned it that way.

That's it! Go to town! Wait. No. Stay here and buy stuff...]

"Oh?" He peered to see if he could read any titles. "Such as?"

The titles were all of a certain grape or plum colored style of non-poetical writing, and the covers bore anatomically improbable men and women in wild, exotic locals.

Walter snickered as he caught sight of the titles and one improbable cover. "I do hope you're not going to expect me to be anything like that."

Nadia gave Walter a look of mock innocense. "You mean you're not?"

"Oh my dearest love, I languish in the depths of the night awaiting a breath from you that you are mine and only mine," he declaimed, throwing a hand over his heart.

What? Hellsing's library has a lot of Victorian-era novels, a time that defined purple prose.

Walter couldn't keep a straight face, but he tried. "Oh, my dear! Shall I loosen your corset?"

"Nay, for it is merely the passion with which you speak that makes me dizzy," Nadia proclaimed, just the barest hint of a giggle in her voice.

"Your beauty and wit incite me to such heights," Walter said, taking her hand and bowing over it partly to hide his growing grin. "I am unworthy to even think on them, but still I cannot help myself."

Nadia had absolutely no idea what to say to that, so she swooned again.

And curtseyed. At the same time.

Walter put an arm around her, as though solicitous of all the swooning, then burst out laughing.

"I think you've broken me now."

"Well, that is my goal on a daily basis," Nadia started laughing as well.

"You can relax for the rest of the day, then. Your mission is accomplished." He held up the two Spanish books (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/896560.html?thread=44284976#t44284976) he'd picked out. "But you can see, I'm going to understand some of those things you keep saying to me when you're angry."

Only if those books teach Spanish the Alta Vista Babelfish way. . . .

Nadia grinned. "Eso es maravilloso, mi amor, pero no espera entenderme eso rápidamente. Ahora he estado aprendiendo el inglés por algunos años, y todavía no entiendo a muchos de qué gente alrededor de aquí dice."

Too bad Walter knows far less Spanish than his mun.

Walter smiled and nodded. "Exactly."

Nadia's mun should probably some day learn some Spanish. . . .

"Ofrecería enseñar le, solamente me esté asustado que conseguiríamos distrajimos la manera que lo hacemos cuando tenemos ' lecciones de la guitarra." said Nadia, raising an eyebrow.

Walter looked a little blank, but latched on to a word he recognized. "Guitar lessons? We have been lax."

Nadia was starting to grin like an idiot. "¿Flojo? Hemos sido más activos en los últimos días entonces nuestra relación entera. ¿Usted desea quizá probar las manillas otra vez?"

Of course, if she wasn't careful, she'd be thinking in Spanish again. It was always hard to switch back to English.

"You're having me on now." Walter poked her with one of his books and stuck his tongue out before grinning. "At least I'm willing to learn during summer vacation when I'm supposed to be skiving off."

Speaking of... "Did you really talk to Artie about the Dada project?"

"Yes, more than workshops," Nadia stuck her tongue out at him. "And yes I did. It didn't really work though."
