Welcome Party for the Summer Students and Staff

Despite the slightly overcast sky, the weather is still good for welcoming all of the new arrivals for the Fandom High summer session. The graduation decorations (and gremlin debris) have been cleared from the front lawn, and replaced with tables of information packets, food, and drinks. A series of signs point the students to the information table first, where they can pick up their room assignments from the office drones, and then continue on to the food tables to mingle.

And no, there are no inflatable gremlins around today. It's far too early to start scaring the new folks. That's what the mingling section is for!

Isabel wandered out. She's not particularly happy after hearing last night's news, but she'll make an effort to be cheerful for the new people.

"It's an interesting place," she said. "But a lot of fun once you get used to it. I just started here in January and I've had the time of my life so far. And what brings you across the Atlantic? Looking for something different?"

"Transferred from my previous school," Cedric explains. "I'm unsure as to why at this moment but I'm trying to make the best of a rather confusing situation."

"That's a shame," she said. "But we're glad to have you here. You should have fun. There's a lot of really nice people around." And teal deer, and the occasional gremlin, and vanishing laundry was left unsaid. "Do you know who you're rooming with?"

"I do. His name is Dean Winchester and I believe we're in room 420," Cedric tells her. "And thank you. I'm sure I'll adjust to being here. It's quite new."

"He must be new because I don't recognize his name," Isabel said. "The school's small enough that you at least know people's names even if you don't know them. I'm in 406, just down the hall, so if you need anything feel free to knock."

"From your mouth to whatever higher power might happen to be listening," Isabel grinned. She looked around, "There certainly seems to be a number of possibilities. We'll have to see how many of them survive the first week or two of weirdness."

"I'll say my rosary for you if you think it'll help," Elizabeth winked. She nodded. "Seem to be a couple of nice guys around. Hopefully the first couple of weeks won't be too weird. But then if it isn't, they'll think that we've been exagerrating the weirdness."

"Maybe a novena to the patron saint of dateless females would help? I did talk to one of the new guys, Cedric, he seemed very nice." Isabel shook her head, "From what I heard, the Zombies attacked early in the first semester and we had snow monsters the first month second semester. I know it's not a huge number to base things on, but I'd bet something odd will happen by the end of June. And if it sharks with feet, will you protect me from Sam?"

"The patron saint of single females is St. Agatha?" Elizabeth suggested with a grin. "Yeah, I spoke with Cedric too. A bit overwhelmed I think, but yeah, nice." She nodded "I think we were, what, three weeks into the semester for the zombies?" Elizabeth shuddered slightly, and reached to rub her shoulder. "I will do my best, but I'm not so good with the protecting thing. That's why Cam and I are swapping services."

"I think St. Agatha and I will have to have a talk tonight. I'm not asking for true love, just the occasional date to the movies would be nice." Isabel frowned, "Then again, considering the movies they show in town? Going out for coffee would be really nice."

"You and Cam are swapping protection services? Why? What happened?"

Elizabeth grinned. "Throwing in Hail Marys was always encouraged," she said. "I think you'd definitely be safer with coffee. Summer blockbusters this year is going to mean trips off the island. Not that I even know what's coming out, but still."

She laughed. "Oh, I'm going to be doing diplomacy for him so he doesn't get punched in the face again, and he'll be by bodyguard as required," she explained. "Nothing's really happened; asides from Logan punching Cam last week."

"Coffee, or else I'm getting a Netflix subscription. My laptop will play DVDs. So what if I'm always a few months behind."

Isabel rolled her eyes, "I heard about that. Testosterone does bad things to the male impluse control doesn't it?"

"Parentals decided to send me to camp," he shrugged. "No idea what made them pick this one - Mom liked the brochure a lot, and they're letting me keep my stuff, so I'm happy with it."

"This is the first time I'm doing summer camp as well. I think it'll be fun," Isabel said. "So what sort of stuff do you have? Obviously not weapons if they're letting you keep it."

"Really? One of my friends at home is all into science," she said. "She wants to go to Harvard and study to be a molecular biologist. They let you keep all your chemicals? Aren't some of them dangerous? Which means they'll be great to have around whenever this sessions monster strikes."
