Summer Shenanigans, May 25, 2022

The park today looked like an insane person with a ridiculous love of bunting had been allowed to go absolutely nuts setting up mazes.

(In related news, Beaker had been consulted for ideas.)

There were four main areas of concern: a maze with four wheelie recycling bins set before it; a series of folding tables with a variety of fruit and implements on top of them; two large fences with roughly 300 rubber ducks perched on top of them (and a velvet rope 100 feet away from it); and a final maze of bunting with a chair in the center of it.

In the center of all of this mess was a large shed with a closed door.

Anakin looked extremely pleased with himself as he leaned against the Table o' Terrible T-Shirts.

"Welcome back!" he yelled into his bullhorn. "I am pleased to see such enthusiasm for our weekly community building activities."

Sure, let's go with that interpretation. "Today we have several new obstacles for you to master! The specifics of each shall be made clear-" well. Clear-ish. "--as we move to them. The team with the most number of points wins! Listen for your names:"

Wonder just what kind of a deal Anakin had gotten on bunting (SUCH a good one). Eat snacks! Try not to make eye contact with Anakin as he plots! (That won't work, but it's worth an attempt?) Make new friends!

Graham rode into the park that day aboard Triumph, as usual, as once they managed to get settled and have some food before things got going, the trusty steed made a few curious chirrups at Graham and he chuckled a little, patting him on the head.

"Who knows, Triumph?" he said. "Maybe they will call your name this time! And have one of those neat shirts for you, too! Only time will tell! But this one looks promising!"

Will was fully expecting to hear his own name called, and so was somewhat surprised when that didn’t actually happen.

Oh well. He’d get to spectate this week, at least?

Connor and Rex had been out for a walk when he noticed a large gathering at the park. So naturally he headed over to check it out and just kind of stood there for a moment or two trying to take it all in... whatever it was because it honestly was hard to tell.

"Well now this is a sight isn't it Rexy?" he asked as he reached up to the small dragon sitting on his shoulder.

Summer was seriously in awe.

"This shirt," she declared, "understands me on a level deeper than I thought was ever even possible."

Was it possible to marry a shirt? Summer was considering it right about now.

Not actually a bad thing. He was legitimately kind of in awe.

Everyone be proud of Irene, who had worn trainers and a pair of (designer) jeans to the park today because she knew her luck. (It was turning out to be quite the dirty -- literally -- summer for her!)

But some things, one could not prepare for. And so Irene was just going to take her time putting her hair up in a ponytail as she stared at the shirt she was going to have to put on.

"At least it's creatively hideous." Even if she was wondering how those springs would work on as loose a foundation as sand.

As if the Japanese student needed any more reminders that she was definitely in a foreign country that she would never understand....this shirt was definitely taking it to the ultimate level.

Excuse Sidon while he chuckled with bewildered amusement, not only at the shirt itself, but over the fact that Anakin had done it once more by finding one actually in his size.

It was probably a good thing, actually, that Sidon didn't really wear clothes, because, over the years, these shirts were about all he had. And what a wardrobe that made.

Oh, boy, Libby was sure glad she was on this team rather than the 'Merica one, because she already felt she was traipsing dangerously close down the road to damnation just by being here more often than not than not, without having to add that kind of blasphemy into the mix.

Which was fine, because she actually thought all the chickens were cute and kind of wholesome with their summer fun, and should she be worried about that?

Did someone call for a totally confused newbie gaping in bewilderment as his name was called? Cuz that was exactly what you were getting when Connor heard his name get called out. He had only stopped by to see what was going on. He hadn't expected to be roped into participating in.... whatever this was.

Liz had never thought she’d be grateful for being called down this week. Especially since she had not heard from Prompto last night and was trying to not worry about it …he was just busy, everything was fine…

Part 1: WHEELIE BINS

This is your first team activity! The first three team members of each group (Steve R, Steph & Graham; Clare, Tony & Sakaki; Libby, Margo & Duke; and Travis, Sidon & Beaker) must decide which of the three of them will be put into the wheelie bin.

The other two get blindfolds. The one in the wheelie bin is giving directions through the maze (think a bank teller line but more festive!), with two stops through the course: one to break a balloon and one to high five each other.

HOWEVER. The person in the wheelie bin giving directions is not allowed to speak English.

So. This should be an adventure. Fastest on through the course wins!
