Summer Shenanigans, May 25, 2022

The park today looked like an insane person with a ridiculous love of bunting had been allowed to go absolutely nuts setting up mazes.

(In related news, Beaker had been consulted for ideas.)

There were four main areas of concern: a maze with four wheelie recycling bins set before it; a series of folding tables with a variety of fruit and implements on top of them; two large fences with roughly 300 rubber ducks perched on top of them (and a velvet rope 100 feet away from it); and a final maze of bunting with a chair in the center of it.

In the center of all of this mess was a large shed with a closed door.

Anakin looked extremely pleased with himself as he leaned against the Table o' Terrible T-Shirts.

"Welcome back!" he yelled into his bullhorn. "I am pleased to see such enthusiasm for our weekly community building activities."

Sure, let's go with that interpretation. "Today we have several new obstacles for you to master! The specifics of each shall be made clear-" well. Clear-ish. "--as we move to them. The team with the most number of points wins! Listen for your names:"

Oh, sure. Disallow the one thing Lana could do that would be the most helpful. You were getting a dirty look for that, Anakin.

"Hm." She eyed the things in the shed. "Throw things at it, knock over the fence, or mind-control someone else into pushing them down?"

"Oh, I like how you think," Scott noted, glancing over at the woman in the matching, horrific shirt. "I mean, please don't mind-control me. There's probably way better choices."

He, mind you, was strongly considering whether he could throw the tennis balls far enough or whether the racket would actually be useful here, so mind-control didn't seem like a bad option, here.

"Of course not," Lana said. "If I sent you out there to do it, we wouldn't both be back here, and it wouldn't count."

She eyed a squirrel thoughtfully. "I'd try sending one of them, but they also report the news. It's never a good idea to get the propagandists against you."

"If you mind-control someone from another team, would they get DQ'd for coming out behind the ropes?" Scott suggested, raising his eyebrows. "Take everyone else out via process of elimination and we're just the last ones left actually following the rules?"

Lana smirked at him. "I like the way you think." She eyed the other teams.

"I'm Scott," he contributed, offering over a hand to shake as he glanced at the other teams. "I can't mind-control anyone, but I can be a distraction."

He had, like, no shame, which would help.

"Lana Beniko." She shook his hand. "I'll be back in a moment."

She stepped over to the man who'd easily cleared out his own ducks, smiled, and said, "Wouldn't it be nice if you took ours out, too?" putting the Force into it.

Miguel shrugged. "Why not?"

He did his trick again, and took out most of Lana and Scott's ducks.

"That was handy," Scott decided, watching in admiration. "...also, how's he doing that?"

Louder, to Miguel, he added, "How are you doing that?"

Because that looked...annoyingly familiar.

"I'm Spider-man!" Miguel announced. "How else?"

No weird mechanical web spinners for him, either - which would probably be noticeable in the awful short-sleeved shirt he was wearing.

"Nuh uh, Spider-man is a teenager," Scott pointed out, which he thought was a reasonable argument.

Scott had been incredibly lucky in that everyone he'd met from variations of his own universe at least strongly physically resembled the counterpart he knew. Brunette hair and apparent height discrepancies aside.

"Oh, you're from Miles's world?" Because the Peter Parker Miguel had met was adult. "Nice kid. He went here for a while."
dishesonthetoprack: ([neu] no you just don't get it)

"I didn't get his name," Scott admitted. "He was too busy doing -- that thing you just did and tripping me."

He was trying not to glare at Miguel, since it wasn't his fault. Probably.

"But maybe I can just call it square with Spider-Men now, though," he decided thoughtfully, nodding to the fallen ducks.
