Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Despite the fact that this picnic was celebrating the coming fall semester, it was still technically summer, and the weather was making that clear. It was sunny, with not a cloud in the sky, and the temperature was seasonably toasty.

With not a minute to spare, the food was ready, the tables and chairs had been spread across the lawn with just the right amount of glitter on them, and everything was ready to welcome a new batch of folks to the island.

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Miles didn't like the look of the nametag someone else had done, so he took a little time with his own and slapped it on his hoodie.



Then he just sort of hung out trying to see if he could figure out this weird place.

Alara had found out that she was going to be an assigned sibling, so she had made her way down to the welcome picnic.

She started looking at the name tags, "Miles?" she said, once she found the name she was looking forward.

Eleanor was not feeling well from the night before. However she was forced to be a sibling to someone so she might as well tough it out.

Hopefully Arabella was wearing a nametag.

Nell only hoped that she'd manage to be good big sibling. She'd carefully put on her name tag and tried to figure out how to say her sibling's name quietly under her breath. "Way Wooshan? Weheye Wooeezhan?"

She sighed, worried more that the first thing she'd do was offend him or her by mangling their name. So she went looking for a name tag that matched.

Maeve, antisocial as she was, was not exactly looking to be found. She had her blank nametag stuck to her fingers so she could say she had it on if anyone said anything, but otherwise she was trying to figure out what was going on here while still looking cool about it.

So. Mae had been assigned a sib again. She wandered down to the picnic (after a nice long lie-in), grabbed some cheese puffs, and bounced her way up to the highest non-tree point on the grounds.

"TROY BARNES!!!!" she bellowed. "IS THERE A TROY BARNES IN THE HOUSE????"

Eleanor may have been informed of the change but she probably missed it. However when looking for her little sibling she did come across the list.

"Huh. I guess that's why they fixed the lock," she said to herself. "Fork. I probably need to clean the room up."

Ooo. Maybe more gifts were left behind in the form of booze.

"Anybody here named... Wee Wooxeyeanne?"

No one had told Maeve there would be roommates. She'd been living on her own just long enough to really appreciate her space. And ugh, it was someone with a similar name so they'd probably keep getting mixed up, this was terrible.

There was no alcohol in Barry's cup. But after the crazy ass trip back in the bus, he was keeping an eye on the students to make sure they didn't go off the deep end.

There was definitely alcohol in Booker's cup, but he was trying to keep the flask out of sight in front of the kids, at least.

The ones who hadn't already seen it at the airport, anyway.

There was no alcohol in Rosa's cup, because Rosa didn't have a cup. Because she was just doing her thing where she just stood there with her arms crossed, observing with that perfectly cultivated bored-yet-judgey demeanor. It was just kind of her thing for these functions.

Nevermind. It was picnic time, there was meat on sticks, and so you know Amaya was definitely there and just enjoying the nice day and maybe scoping out potential new customers.

The cup Shunsui was drinking from was specifically designed for alcohol, and he was frequently refilling it from a jug of alcohol, so there really wasn't much of a question to ask there.

He'd also shown up quite a bit late to this thing, looked like he pretty much just rolled out of bed and threw on his hat and haori, but he seemed to be in a pretty good, if sleepy, mood, as he did his requisite purusal of the crowd for any particularly beautiful new teachers that might be joining them, or for any that may have fallen through the cracks, so to speak, at previous picnics.

And Summer was just there to break the streak by not mentioning anything at all about her cup or whether there was alcohol in it, although by doing so, inadvertendly ended up doing the exact thing this post was intended to stop.

Damn.

Either way, she was there, and totally soaking up everything because she really, really loved picnic day and was looking forward to fulfilling her teaching buddy duties and just dig the general vibe that went along with these days.

Kitty had brought Lexi out for a while, because sometimes the kid needed to be social. So she was mostly letting her nearly-two-year-old roam around a little on her own while also keeping an eye on her and not letting her get underfoot of anyone.

This meant that Kitty was not staying put at all today.

Karolina was here, same as ever, with her rainbow-laden GUIDANCE COUNSELOR Karolina! name tag and carrying a little basket over one arm, with small welcome packets for the new kids.

And totally thinking back to attending these things when she was a student herself, yeah. That just... never seemed to fully go away.
