Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Despite the fact that this picnic was celebrating the coming fall semester, it was still technically summer, and the weather was making that clear. It was sunny, with not a cloud in the sky, and the temperature was seasonably toasty.

With not a minute to spare, the food was ready, the tables and chairs had been spread across the lawn with just the right amount of glitter on them, and everything was ready to welcome a new batch of folks to the island.

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

He blinked a bit as he looked at Alara and just still couldn't get a grip on this yet.

"Okay. I know this is a school and it's non-traditional but where the hell am I right now?"

“So where and when do you come from Miles?” Alara thought that might be the best way to try and explain Fandom.

“That’s in New York, right?” Alara tried to recall her limited familiarity with Earth geography.

He paused.

"I don't mean to assume but I don't think your from my planet."

She nodded, “I’m from a planet called Xeyala,” she explained, “its 2409 for me back home,”

Miles had to walk around in a circle to absorb that one.

"Jeeeeeez. Okay. So this must be like the stone ages for you."

“It’s been a bit of an adjustment,” she admitted, “it wasn’t the kind of boarding school I thought it would be when my parents sent me here,” that was a bit of an understatement, “but Fandoms definitely been an interesting experience,”
