Parker is hungover, unhappy, and really not glad to be back from break.

The Library is open.

Do not taunt the Library aide. This morning, she bites.

Anders . . . was actually in the library of his own free will. Well, sort of.

He was there with the intention of looking up information on the mating habits of woodchucks. Which was not as random as it seemed; silly sociology project. But at least he had a thermos full of freshly brewed coffee on hand.

"Parker. Gilmore. Mornin'. Caffeine?"

"Have I ever said no to coffee?" Rory asked practically. "How are you today?"

Anders promptly held the thermos out to her and pulled a handful of sugar packets out of the front pocket of his sweatshirt. "I'm here. I'm awake, scarily enough. What's goin' on with you?"

"You came prepared," Rory noted, pulling one of the ever-present coffee mugs from behind the collections desk and helping herself to some coffee, but passing on the sugar. "Um, I'm good. Did Bridgey talk to you about the thing this afternoon?"

Oh God.

Parker sighed. Didn't look at Rory. And pulled out a pound of coffee... and a pound of dark chocolate.

"Yours, I believe."

Rory blinked.

She looked from the chocolate to the coffee to Parker.

"Oh, really?" she asked, trying very hard not to smirk.

Parker covered her face, and let her head thunk on the library counter. "Ow." Then she muttered, "Yesterday. I should give Jaye the same for not putting it on the radio last night."

"Why are you headdesking?" Rory asked. "This is a happy thing!"

After Rory was done bouncing at Anders, Angela waved to her. "So I have librarian news," she said. "As in, we're going to have one again."

Parker blinked. "Seriously? Any news on who?" She pushed a hand through her hair and tried to focus. "Or when, exactly?"

"Veronica Mars met him in town Wedneday," Angela said. "She said his name was Kurt Wagner, she thought, and he's very nice."

She paused. "Oh, and she said he was blue, and I don't think she meant, like, in the emo way. BUT he talks, so ... step up, right?"

"Talking would be good, yeah." Parker leaned her chin on her hands. "I've liked all the blue people I know, not that that means anything. Hank. Zhaan, in town. So, maybe that's a good omen? Hopefully?"

Rory listened to Angela and Parker, thoughtful. "He's blue? Did Veronica say why?"

Angela shook her head. "I think he just has blue skin. I don't know if she knew. Didn't ask. I was stuck on making sure he could talk."

"Huh. Yay for being able to talk, at least," Rory sighed. "Not that I didn't like the ape, of course."

After class, Peter walked into the library, still all bruisinated, really hoping for some good news today. He didn't see Zero anywhere, but it couldn't hurt to ask if she was around.

Oh, wait, Parker was there. It probably could hurt. "Good morning," he said as cheerfully as he could.

"Hey, Peter," Angela said. "What's up?" She took in his injuries. "Are you okay?"

Peter shrugged at the question. "Just had a midterm in Sociology of Violence. I thought I'd replace my essay with something more practical." And then, not even pausing to make a proper segue, he asked, "Is Zero around?"

Angela raised her eyebrows. "Zero's, um ... not exactly back from break yet," she said, then sucked in her breath. "She'skindofinjailinScotland. With her parents."

There were no words. Okay, maybe a few words. "Well, it's nice that she's spending time with her family, at least."

"Mmmmmph. Is it?" Parker looked subdued, then a tiny, tiny bit amused by something. "How's it going, Petey boy?"

After Angela told him about Zero's incarceration, Peter's mood was about as pleasant as his face at the moment. "Perfectly fine. Really. If the past few days were a person, I'd buy it a cake."

"Ah." Parker tilted her head very carefully. "I'm having that day too. Sucks, doesn't it?" She yawned, then opened her cellphone. To share or not to share. To share, or not to share.... Zero might kill her, but Petey boy looked really pathetic.
