Parker is hungover, unhappy, and really not glad to be back from break.

The Library is open.

Do not taunt the Library aide. This morning, she bites.

Okay, now she's watching Zero and her family get arrested on the CNN feed on the computer. It's probably safe to talk to her. Probably.

Library closed so aides can eat, but you can always come by with chocolate offerings to th hungover.

God, sobriety sucks. How can we help you?

The Hopeless-Savage arrest is playing again, because watching what Dirk does to that policeman makes Parker smile.

She might have succumbed to a nap attack.

"Morning!" Rory called, bouncing in perkily.

Anders . . . was actually in the library of his own free will. Well, sort of.

He was there with the intention of looking up information on the mating habits of woodchucks. Which was not as random as it seemed; silly sociology project. But at least he had a thermos full of freshly brewed coffee on hand.

"Parker. Gilmore. Mornin'. Caffeine?"

"Have I ever said no to coffee?" Rory asked practically. "How are you today?"

Anders promptly held the thermos out to her and pulled a handful of sugar packets out of the front pocket of his sweatshirt. "I'm here. I'm awake, scarily enough. What's goin' on with you?"

"You came prepared," Rory noted, pulling one of the ever-present coffee mugs from behind the collections desk and helping herself to some coffee, but passing on the sugar. "Um, I'm good. Did Bridgey talk to you about the thing this afternoon?"

"Coffee is one of those necessary survival things, y'know." Anders looked a little horrified at the sugarless coffee, but kept his mouth shut on the subject. "Thing this afternoon?"

"Oh, we're having an animal balancing contest in the lobby," Rory explained. "Putting animals on our heads and trying to keep them up there. And I'm kind of adding to it, but he doesn't know that."

Anders raised an eyebrow. "Okay, well, I've heard of weirder pastimes. What are you adding to it?"

"Um. He mentioned his birthday got kind of passed over, and I felt really bad, so I ordered him a cake and got him presents and so it'll be kind of like a little party," Rory confessed, looking a little sheepish.

Blair bounced in and up to the desk, trying to decide whether he felt like disturbing Parker today.

"Yeah, it did. Way back, all sorta overshadowed by the pageant craziness and everything." Anders frowned. "So this is sorta a surprise party for him? I should've thought of that. Man, some best friend I make . . . d'you need me to help?"

"Hmm." Rory thought for a moment. "See, I don't know if we'll be able to decorate like we did for Cally's party, but...ooh! Want to get some balloons or something? That'd be fun to have."

"Balloons I can totally do," agreed Anders, nodding. How frakking cute is this? he thought, hoping he wasn't smirking. "Green, probably. Seems like the right color for him. How about drinks and stuff? Just soft drinks, of course, but I can grab some of those."

"Oh, drinks would be great," Rory said gratefully. "And yeah, green is perfect, since the icing on the cake is green. And plus it's almost St. Patrick's Day."

Anders groaned. "Not another holiday!"

After class, Peter walked into the library, still all bruisinated, really hoping for some good news today. He didn't see Zero anywhere, but it couldn't hurt to ask if she was around.

Oh, wait, Parker was there. It probably could hurt. "Good morning," he said as cheerfully as he could.

"To celebrate Irish heritage," Rory said proudly. "And I'm Irish way, way, way back, so yay. But it's really more of an excuse to get drunk and wear green."

He sighed. "You guys have weird, weird holidays. And they all confuse me."
