Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

Throughout the lawn, tables and chairs had been set up and scattered, some out in the bright, sunny center of everything, and some in the darker, more remote areas.

Eat up, folks! Don't let that food go to waste!

[OCD up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

No breaking the newbies! Yet!

*finally crashes into bed*

Edward had found a pitcher of water resting on a table somewhere. Looking at the food still made his stomach churn, but the water doused it some. He was sat underneath a tree, not yet presenting his best mood - it was a troubling situation he'd stumbled into - but he felt friendlier by the moment.

Oh sure the food looked good, and hundreds if not thousands of students had gorged themselves in previous picnics without ill results but that meant nothing to Barry.

Which is why he had a wireless probe in the potato salad and was analyzing the results on his tablet device.

Seifer wasn't the type to pass up the picnic. Mostly for the shock factor. It was always fun to see the newbies freak out.

Plus, it was easier to just toss some 'Needful Things is Hiring' flyers on one of the tables instead of hoping someone wandered to that corner of the island.

Also, food. Lots of food. And he was filling up his plate.

It was a school picnic, which naturally meant that Emma was by the tables, filling her belly and her backpack.

Korra sat in the shade, Naga flopped down next to her getting tummy rubs while she people watched.

Excuse you, OCD, Isabelle would be breaking exactly as many newbies as she saw fit.

Okay, no, maybe she'd just flirt with some of them. She was wandering around the lawn, checking out newbies and slightly more unfamiliar oldbies alike. It was good to be aware of who was around! Especially if they were cute.

Was Chuck scowling? Of course Chuck was scowling.

He thought he'd have been out of here by now.

So yes, mister Sunshine had sat down somewhere at the fringes with a plate and openly scowled at everyone in general.

Wonderful thing, a clearing head: it brought awareness, and awareness brought awareness of important people-- pretty girls, to be specific.

Edward still held a great deal of confusion and uncertainty as to his current predicament, but there was no better remedy than conversation, was there? "Taking good advantage of our hosts, I see," he said merrily. "Since you seem to be an expert - have you got any food recommendations for me?"

It was very important to know who all the cute people were! Which would explain why Edward grinned at her once she ambled too closely in his direction. "You look like a woman with purpose," he called.

Isabelle smirked back at his grin as she changed the course of her wandering more towards his direction.

"Do I?" she asked. "And what purpose would you suppose that might be?"

"Depends on whether you're planning on eating it now or later," Emma said, an apple finding its way into her bag.

"Ah," Edward said as he took a swig of water from his pitcher. "That would be what roused my curiosity."

Lies. She was a pretty girl who seemed to have no shyness about her; that's about what did it.

"Is there a difference, then?" Edward asked, amusement coloring his voice. "Surely what tastes good now will taste good come tomorrow, right?"

It felt kind of weird being here now that he wasn't a student, but Stiles wasn't about to pass up on free food. He filled a plate up as high as he could and sat down at a picnic table to dig in.

Kaylin had never seen this much food in her life. She didn't particularly feel like eating after her portal trip, but who knew when she'd be offered food again?

She'd also never seen anything like most of this food before, so she was trying it out carefully with an increasingly happy smile.

[Ooc: I have a movie date with my niece this am and then a matinee and an evening show so I'll be sketchy and in and out, sorry. Why shows on newbie weekend???]

"Most of it, sure," Emma said, shrugging. "Some of it, depends on your feelings about food poisoning."

"So what are you eating at the moment?"

Food poisoning was not a particularly charming subject, so he hoped to avoid it further.

That was about what Isabelle figured, too, and she didn't mind it one bit, either. She was very pretty, it tended to get her some attention.

"Well, I don't know if I have a specific purpose today. Just enjoying a beautiful day and checking out the newcomers."

Edward made a show of looking about himself. "So how are we faring?" he said. "Besides some of our number looking confused and out of our element, poor sods."

He was also confused and out of his element, but he'd passed the willingness to let on. It was a beautiful day, for all that, and he couldn't say he hated being out of earshot for whatever tirade his father was no doubt cooking up.

"Bearclaw," Emma replied, holding the pastry up. "It'll keep but they're better fresh."

"What is it?" Edward asked. "Can't say I've ever seen a pastry like this before."

Where had he wound up?

Isaac was another one who couldn't resist free food, though he was having a little more restraint than Stiles was. Though he was probably eating more meat. Growing werewolf, needed protein and everything.

Well, it wasn't Kansas.

Emma took a bite of her pastry. "Fried dough with almonds, tasty." The 'your loss' at him never having one before was implied.
