Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2012, Early Saturday Evening (Part 1)
With things back to normal - or as normal as Fandom ever got - preparations for graduation had gone into full swing. The ceremony was set for right after sunset, to make sure all types of guests could safely attend, and the lawn had been lit up with blue and gold lights, creating safe paths in which to walk to the seating area and giving everything a twinkling, serene appearance.
Of course, the staff knew that graduation was rarely a serene event, and the fact that Ingvar's volcano was being unusually active emphasized the need to prepare the seniors as much as possible. Last year's cache of weapons had been discreetly stashed in a trunk behind the podium...and yes, they'd all been properly cleaned. Who knew what dried Viking blood could do to metal?
Once everything had been arranged, the guests were let in, and all that was left was to pray everything went smoothly.

And it didn't hurt that he would be next to somebody who knew her way around a battle for the whole ceremony. He really couldn't be more prepared, really.
Re: The Procession!
She certainly wasn't muttering under her breath about the only practical use for it being to conceal her agiels. At all.

But it mattered to some; so he didn't let any of this show on his face, and smiled at Alice as the procession began.
Re: The Procession!
She didn't know him, exactly, but she knew people who were friends with him. She couldn't not make polite conversation.

"Will they still let me be valedictorian if I fall, bam, on my face?" she whispered. "Or will it be, like -- sorry, you, uh ... failed walking class, back to kindergarten?"

"You're not going to fall on your face," Sam said, trying to be reassuring. "I think I'd be more inclined to do that. My luck isn't the best."
[Sorry, been at work aaaall day.]

"I guess this is it," he murmured as he started down the aisle, wings tucked neatly behind himself.

Sure, if anything attacked she might have the minorest of breakdowns at things being ruined, but for now...

"If we get attacked early, get behind me," he said with a nod. "I have my lightsaber."
Of course, Ben's idea of reassuring wasn't everyone's...

And if that obnoxiously energetic boy they were supposed to walk to their seats with had a problem with it... well. Blind Seer bared his teeth, noting with smug satisfaction when the teenage male edged away just slightly.

And if Miley was murmuring, "Step, step, step, step," to herself as she walked, well -- these heels might've been a bit ambitious, okay?

Squall was also looking around warily as the two of them paraded down the aisle together. He gave Seifer a slight nudge. "I hope you have your Hyperion under your robe. Be on guard."

Nathan was ready to get his fucking diploma and get to the drinking. So, he was a little fidgety.
