Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2012, Early Saturday Evening (Part 1)

With things back to normal - or as normal as Fandom ever got - preparations for graduation had gone into full swing. The ceremony was set for right after sunset, to make sure all types of guests could safely attend, and the lawn had been lit up with blue and gold lights, creating safe paths in which to walk to the seating area and giving everything a twinkling, serene appearance.

Of course, the staff knew that graduation was rarely a serene event, and the fact that Ingvar's volcano was being unusually active emphasized the need to prepare the seniors as much as possible. Last year's cache of weapons had been discreetly stashed in a trunk behind the podium...and yes, they'd all been properly cleaned. Who knew what dried Viking blood could do to metal?

Once everything had been arranged, the guests were let in, and all that was left was to pray everything went smoothly.

"Thank you," he said, nodding. "Will you be leaving very soon? Or do you have plans to stay for the summer?"

"Leaving Thursday, I think?" Quinn said, pursing her lips. "I have a job lined up at home, so ... can't stay too long."

She glanced over. "What about you?"

"Fairly soon, I think," Bod said, nodding. "I'm going back to Kansas with Kate and then, from there, I want to travel but I don't know the specifics yet. I want to see the world. Congratulations on the job."

"Congratulations on seeing the world," Quinn said, with a hint of envy. "That's on my list for ... you know. My life after this."

"It's hard to believe there is a life after this," Bod admitted. "I've been here for so long. It's surreal to see it come to an end."

"More surreal than just being here?" Quinn wondered, halfway teasing. "Pretty sure back home we won't randomly turn into different people."

"Or have random children appearing at different times during the year," Bod agreed. "It might be surreal, yes. I'll miss this place, I will."
