[OOC: It's good to be back! Now using limited OCD threads! Class Info Post.]

The Tick is standing at a podium in the front of the room. Lockheed is back on top of a specific bookcase in the room. Furthermore, there is a squid in a bowl on Tick's desk. On the bowl is a note reading "LOST SQUID." Once all the students have filed in, The Tick hands out the syllabi which are just the C.I.P. linked above but more IC, shh and speaks to the class.

"Hello, students! In case you were unaware, I am Professor Tick and I shall be your guide in this mysterious land that we call Justice! This semester we will be taking on subjects that are... Well, actually, I don't know what they are yet, but they should be keen! "

"A couple orders of business to take care of. First, since this is an advanced class, you'll be expected to do a bit more than you did last semester. Therefore, you have weekly homework now. More on that later. You will also have two quizzes, a paper, a group project, and the Final Exam at the end of the year. I'm confident that you will all survive these trials, though! And there will be weekly extra credit, of course."

"Now let's get to a little discussion! It's light stuff today, class. Stand up, give your name, and tell the class something you've done in the Name of Justice!"

"Every week, you will have a homework assignment. The assignment is called The Weekly Metaphor! Each week I'll give you a prompt and you will have to use your fine metaphor skills to make the prompt relate to Justice in some way. [OOC: See the duck question on last semester's final to see how this works.] This week's prompt is mules."

"And finally, I'm giving you the opportunity to do weekly extra credit. This week's EC Prompt is: come up with a superhero name for yourself."

"Extra Credit and The Weekly Metaphor must be turned in on Thursday [OOC: Or in slowplay terms, by class on the following Tuesday.] Again, I look forward to all of your contributions throughout the next 16 weeks. Go ahead and discuss!"

Callisto's eyes nearly bugged out of her head when she saw Cam-mollusc sitting on the Tick's desk. She'd been looking for him everywhere, how in Tartarus did he get down here?

Janet ran into class, out of breath and not carrying her usual backpack. If you knew her, you might think it would be because she'd spent the night at Daniel's apartment and sprinted back to campus to make it into class on time. Which, of course, she would never do. Because that would be against school rules.

"Hi," she said after she caught her breath.. "My name is Janet Fraiser and--" She tried to remember something that wasn't classified. "I helped with the School Beautification Group just before Parents Weekend." Cleaning up the school after a gremlin vandalism attack counted as Justice, right?

Sam waved as she stood up. "Hi, I'm Sam Carter. Er, I watch vigilantly for potential evildoers especially in my Tactics of War class."

Archie stands up, clears his throat and is in no way looking at Jaye at all since she's technically not taking the class anyway and clasps his hands behind his back.

"My name is Archie Kennedy, and I was going to say that joining the Royal Navy was something I've done in the name of Justice. But that's not exactly true, since I was shipped off by my parents. I, er . . ." He pauses to arrange the wording in his head.

"I once took the initiative to help stop a corrupted individual from abusing a position of power?"

Logan stood up. "Hi, I'm Logan. Back home, my friends and I did our part to keep the local criminal element down."

"I'm Angel. Before I came to Fandom I defended my hometown from demons and vampires. Also I saved the world a couple of times a year."

Angel thought about it.

"I also tried destroying the world that one time. Not sure if that cancels at least one of the saving times out."

Parker stands up and smiles. "Hi, I'm Parker, and the most recent thing I've done in the name of Justice is buy our Vice Principal vodka for a week."

Anakin looked around the class, seeing a number of faces who didn't look precisely thrilled to see him.

Well, and Rory. That had to count for something good, right?

He cleared his throat. "Um, I'm Anakin, and I once destroyed a Trade Federation floating donut-thing blockade from economically crippling a planet. Um, by using the mis-firing laser cannons of Justice to blow a hole into their walls of Inequity." He grinned. "It was cool. Also, I was nine."

"Hi! I'm Bridge Carson, which... I think everyone knows already, actually. Uhm, I joined SPD Academy in order to train to be a Power Ranger, who are defenders of peace and justice where I come from!" he grins and waves at everyone.

Cameron hands in his homework; "Justice is a mule. It can carry the weight of an entire society up a sloping hill, but when evil men with corrupt plans try to force her onto the wrong path, she will not move for them and remain stubbornly in place until the right superhero comes along to guide her back to her shiny, keen destination of peace."

Cameron frowns and raises his hand. "Sir. Can a sidekick's name be used as a superhero's name as well? Otherwise I already have one."

Janet made a paper name plate with her superhero name--Napoleonic Powermonger.

She also handed in her homework--The strong back of Justice can carry a heavy load.

She's a little out of practice with her metaphors after break.

Angel handed in a paper. On it it said:

Superhero name: Batman The Dark Avenger Helper of the help - nah that's stupid Champi - nah that's dumb too Protector of the city?

Metaphor: Justice is like a mule in that you think having it around will be really helpful and make your life easier, only the mule's difficult to work with and is really stubborn, just like folks in your town can be really stubborn and refuse to see that, hello, vampires and demons everywhere and just how many people really can accidentally stab themselves with barbeque forks in a single year 'cause, come on, that's gotta be no more than five, ten people tops. Maybe twelve if they're all from the same family.

And then you're there and you're trying to save the life of somebody's girlfriend only he's all pissed off at you because you're making him look like a wimp and she's hitting you with her purse because she thinks you're some kind of sick stalker and all you really wanted to do is go home early that night, watch some Bitterwoman, and maybe get a couple of hours of brooding in but there's this whole damn destiny thing plus this girl you're kinda trying to impress not that that worked out and now all you want to do is hit your head against a wall which is exactly how you feel when you're dealing with a mule. Of justice.
