The Tick is standing at a podium in the front of the room. Lockheed is back on top of a specific bookcase in the room. Furthermore, there is a squid in a bowl on Tick's desk. On the bowl is a note reading "LOST SQUID." Once all the students have filed in, The Tick hands out the syllabi ~~which are just the C.I.P. linked above but more IC, shh~~ and speaks to the class.

"Hello, students! In case you were unaware, I am Professor Tick and I shall be your guide in this mysterious land that we call Justice! This semester we will be taking on subjects that are... Well, actually, I don't know what they are yet, but they should be keen! "

"A couple orders of business to take care of. First, since this is an advanced class, you'll be expected to do a bit more than you did last semester. Therefore, you have weekly homework now. More on that later. You will also have two quizzes, a paper, a group project, and the Final Exam at the end of the year. I'm confident that you will all survive these trials, though! And there will be weekly extra credit, of course."

"Now let's get to a little discussion! It's light stuff today, class. Stand up, give your name, and tell the class something you've done in the Name of Justice!"

"Every week, you will have a homework assignment. The assignment is called The Weekly Metaphor! Each week I'll give you a prompt and you will have to use your fine metaphor skills to make the prompt relate to Justice in some way. [OOC: See the duck question on last semester's final to see how this works.] This week's prompt is mules."

"And finally, I'm giving you the opportunity to do weekly extra credit. This week's EC Prompt is: come up with a superhero name for yourself."

"Extra Credit and The Weekly Metaphor must be turned in on Thursday [OOC: Or in slowplay terms, by class on the following Tuesday.] Again, I look forward to all of your contributions throughout the next 16 weeks. Go ahead and discuss!"

If Callisto smiled doofily at Angel, it because it was early, and everyone smiles doofily when they haven't had enough caffeine yet.

If Angel smiled doofily back it was for much the same reason. Totally. Darn that lack of coffee.

"Morning," Callisto wondered whether Tick could be persuaded to install coffee machines, as the doofiness really wasn't going to do her reputation good.

"Morning," Angel said. If he could read minds he so would've agreed on the coffee machines. A guy couldn't maintain a rep as the biggest brooder at school ~~Take that Lee and Anakin!~~ if he kept grinning all the time. "Didn't - uh - didn't get a chance to see you yesterday."

"Yeah," Callisto nodded, then quickly added. "I wasn't avoiding you or anything, just kinda busy, with y'know, class and stuff."

"Oh me too," Angel hastily assured her. "Kept forgetting my schedule and then another teacher asked me to be TA..."

"They did? Good for you. Which class?" Callisto grinned. "Professor Carter asked me to be TA for her as well."

"Self defense. The teacher was actually pretty nice to me. Understanding about the soul deal and all. Even said I'd get some extra practice in with him, which'll be really good." Angel grinned. "We'll be working with swords.

"And - uh - congrats. On Carter." Angel might've looked a little shy. "So you'll be hanging around the Assistants' Lounge?"

"You'll have to show me your swordwork sometime, then," Callisto said. "Heard Thrace kicked some major ass yesterday in that class."

"Uh, yeah, probably. although I would have been anyway, since I'm also TAing for Professor Skeeter." It was entirely possible that Callisto did not sound overly thrilled about doing so.

"Kara did great. You should've seen her."

Angel frowned. "Isn't that the Prof. who was annoying you somehow?"

"Sorry I missed it," Callisto rubbed her neck. "Who told you that? But yeah, that'd be her."

"John, maybe? Just remember somebody telling me you were all upset and - " Angel fiddled with his notebook paper, looking down " - I didn't like that."

"Oh, we, uh, got off to a bad start, but I'm taking care of it," Callisto chewed on her lower lip. "Thank you though."

"Oh I knew you'd take care of it." Angel might've been grinning a little. It might have been with pride aimed in Callisto's direction. "You know how to handle yourself."

Callisto might have started grinning back. "Just, if anyone comes around asking about any scrolls, or anything, don't mention my name."

"Cal who?" Angel replied, dutifully.

Callisto did not lean across to kiss Angel on th cheek, because that would have been innappropriate in a classroom setting.

Angel did not grin like an absolute dork and then rub his cheek as though doing so would make the feeling of the kiss linger a little longer.

"Okay," Tick said. "No more of that in class."

"Yes, Professor Tick," Callisto did not start turning pink.

"Sorry, Professor Tick," Angel added.
