The Tick is standing at a podium in the front of the room. Lockheed is back on top of a specific bookcase in the room. Furthermore, there is a squid in a bowl on Tick's desk. On the bowl is a note reading "LOST SQUID." Once all the students have filed in, The Tick hands out the syllabi ~~which are just the C.I.P. linked above but more IC, shh~~ and speaks to the class.

"Hello, students! In case you were unaware, I am Professor Tick and I shall be your guide in this mysterious land that we call Justice! This semester we will be taking on subjects that are... Well, actually, I don't know what they are yet, but they should be keen! "

"A couple orders of business to take care of. First, since this is an advanced class, you'll be expected to do a bit more than you did last semester. Therefore, you have weekly homework now. More on that later. You will also have two quizzes, a paper, a group project, and the Final Exam at the end of the year. I'm confident that you will all survive these trials, though! And there will be weekly extra credit, of course."

"Now let's get to a little discussion! It's light stuff today, class. Stand up, give your name, and tell the class something you've done in the Name of Justice!"

"Every week, you will have a homework assignment. The assignment is called The Weekly Metaphor! Each week I'll give you a prompt and you will have to use your fine metaphor skills to make the prompt relate to Justice in some way. [OOC: See the duck question on last semester's final to see how this works.] This week's prompt is mules."

"And finally, I'm giving you the opportunity to do weekly extra credit. This week's EC Prompt is: come up with a superhero name for yourself."

"Extra Credit and The Weekly Metaphor must be turned in on Thursday [OOC: Or in slowplay terms, by class on the following Tuesday.] Again, I look forward to all of your contributions throughout the next 16 weeks. Go ahead and discuss!"

Rory caught the gesture and rolled her eyes at Logan. She mentally put on her TA hat.

"Logan, if you can't be polite with your fellow students, you might as well not show up."

Anakin smirked.

Logan looked at Rory and Anakin, then his hand shot into the air. "Professor The Tick, sir, I have a question."

"Yes, Logan?" Tick asked.

Logan folded his hands on the desk in front of him. "Would you consider it a crime to steal a person's thoughts?"

The Tick had absolutely no idea what this meant. "Do you mean intellectual property? Ideas for fictional characters and such? Of course that's wrong!"

Tick had a suspicion that he had incorrectly guessed the meaning of the question.

Logan shook his head. "I mean using superpowers to go into someone's brain and take out the thoughts you don't like."

"Egads!" Tick said.

"Well, a crime would be punishable by law, and I don't know if we have any laws against such a thing offhand. But it's definitely Wrong," Tick said, shaking his head.

"Why do you ask?"

"Happened to someone I know," Logan said. "So what do you do, if something's Wrong but it's not a crime?"

Tick thought this through for a moment. "Well, the first step would be to convince your friend to tell an authority figure you trust. Then that figure takes it to their superiors and so on until something is done about the situation in general. Legally, your friend can't get much out of it except for possibly satisfaction that Justice is being done and maybe a lawsuit."

"But your friend needs to take that first step. Be there for your friend, Logan!"

"Thank you, sir. I'll talk to her," Logan said. He glanced in Rory's direction, then quickly looked back at The Tick.

The Tick didn't notice any meaning in Logan's looks. "You're welcome. Good luck to her, Logan."

Parker made a note that maybe she and Logan ought to have a talk, and *soon*.

Yeah, that would go well.

Anakin might be glaring at Logan.

It might be the natural set of his face.

It's kind of hard to tell.

Oh, man. He just had to go there in class, didn't he?

Parker sat back, her arms folded, and waited for the collision.

Rory turned to Anakin. "And Anakin, don't provoke him. And do you even know that sign he made means?" she asked, carefully keeping her tone exactly the same as it had been with Logan.

"It means my chin itched," Logan explained.

"Of course it did," Rory nodded. "In this instance. But does it always mean that, Logan? No, it doesn't. So please be more careful with your choice of fingers."

"Yes, Ms. Gilmore," Logan said in a sing-song voice.

Angel might've tossed over a note that reminded Logan that there were other gestures which conveyed similar meanings on the odd chance he wanted to avail himself of them, but doing so would've only happened if Angel had the emotional maturity of, say, an eleven year old.

And everybody knows Angel's emotional maturity is way younger than that.

Anakin nodded, his eyes carefully innocent. "On Bothawui, for example, that gesture would mean you'd be open to having inappropriate relations with livestock."

Rory's mouth twitched, but she managed to keep her face entirely straight. Her eyes were sparkling, however.

"Exactly. So, we all need to be more aware of each other's cultures, because sometimes gestures can be misconstrued. Think of it as a language barrier."
