Fandom High Auditorium, Thursday Afternoon

As whatever was happening on the island became less and less likely to be cleared up with a good old fashioned fight, it seemed it was time to figure out just what to do next. So, a radio announcement let people know to meet up at the school to pool their resources and go over what they knew so far.

Even if some of the people who were supposed to be in charge weren’t looking quite so well anymore...

Gray wasn’t the most charming color when it came to human skin tone.

The taint was starting to give Alistair a headache. It was one thing to sense it in a couple of stray darkspawn, but he'd never felt so many of them before.

Still, his skin was unblemished, so he was up one on the people running the island right now, he supposed. Strangely enough? That wasn't a very reassuring thought.

At least he'd brought the socketed sword to this one.

Jake was perfectly aware that he was well out of his depth when it came to magical or supernatural whatsits.

On the other hand, he actually was a damned good detective, and so he figured if there was research to be done, he might as well pitch in and lend a hand.

Hermione had been listening to radio, and after dealing with the rock the other day, she was more than a little wary of what might happen to her, even if she'd only ever been in the same room with the thing. That hadn't stopped her from hitting the books to see if she could find anything out, and then going to the auditorium when the time came.

And after seeing some of the others, she might be surreptitiously checking her arms to make sure nothing was gray that hadn't been earlier.

Belle was subdued, quietly taking a seat in her cloak with her hood obscuring her face. She'd checked herself for gray patches earlier, having seen some of the results of the illness on others, and honestly, she still wasn't convinced there was a scientific explanation for what was happening. She hadn't heard back from Adam yet, of course, but in her experience, people undergoing monstrous changes was more of a magically-based problem than a medical one.

But then, science was often just an easier way of looking at magic, she thought.

It wasn't so much that Annie had really planned on being here, it was more than she'd had classes to go to- and yes, she was the nerd who went even while creepy things were happening- and it felt safer to stay at school rather than go back to the dorms yet? Shh, don't judge.

Looking around, though, she was feeling really bad for people, and started to really wonder what she could do to help.

The things Karla knew were neither a) hopeful, or b) news to anyone: The land was sick and Craft couldn't help it or the people who were also infected. But maybe other people had an idea?

If nothing else, getting everyone together was a good way to figure out what percentage of the Fandom population was already infected.

Ramona found a place in the back, jiggling her foot a little nervously as she waited for this stupid thing to start. Meetings weren't really her thing, but she figured that finding out what had happened to the things she'd been smacking around was probably a good idea.

Her mallet was propped up beside her, the head down on the floor as she kept her arm wrapped around the handle. It just made her feel better, even if she could banish it or summon it pretty instantly.

Sookie ducked into the auditorium on her way to the clinic, the shield necklace from Karla around her neck and under her shirt. Yes, it was like flying blind when she desperately wanted her sixth sense to watch her back, but at the same time, she knew how useless she'd be with inhuman brains pinging at hers all day long. It would be Rapture twice over.

Forgive Bo for the way her SECURITY t-shirt was currently fitting; sometime around lunch, the bones of her shoulders had started to knot up and poke through the fabric. After a frankly disturbing -- to Bo -- growl, she'd finally tossed her sawdust-flavored sandwich to the floor, reached for her knife, and cut the sleeves off entirely.

Yeah, that'd be the knife currently shoved into the spot on her belt where her flashlight should hang. She wasn't going to have trouble seeing in the dark anytime soon.

Kate and her sword had returned to their usual inseparable status over the last few days.

The oddly coloured administration were getting eyed, and her hand was staying clamped around Slayer, which was emitting a slight pale vapour. This week was making her twitchy.

Peter wasn't exactly thrilled to leave the comfort of the dorms to be here, but reluctantly, he'd admitted to himself that informed was still better than uninformed. It also gave him a chance to study all the other people assembled here, and he wondered what, if anything, they were all planning to do.

Jack was here after a rather trying morning of fighting off rabid, angry squirrels.

He had his sword with him, ready to poke anyone who was too gray to make them go to the clinic.

Or at least sit somewhere far away from him.

Jack shut down the law office and quietly took a seat in the back of the auditorium, notebook open. He was writing down everything anyone said, in the vain hope something might sound vaguely familiar.

He was also keeping a careful tally of those who seemed infected. He was saddened to note the school's officials seemed to be among their number.

Whatever was going on out there was affecting Tony, too, and Stephanie wasn't exactly thrilled about that; if nothing else, she could pass off her presence at this meeting as a way to find out more about the situation for personal reasons.

She didn't have to fake her look of concern, though, or the slightly green tinge to her skin (god, she hoped that was just figurative); wow, the school administration did not look their best.

Goose had come along to the meeting mostly out of curiosity, so he opted to stay up the back and listen to what was being discussed.

Sam was doing his best to look calm, even though he was completely freaking out about Zoe and the others. He wasn't sure what he'd be able to do to help, but he was curious about what ideas other people might have. Assuming they were well enough to share, unfortunately.

Tony dragged himself out of the lab for this, so it had better be good. Or maybe involve a cure for the grey spots that had spread all over after he passed out on his laptop fell asleep last night.

So, he was just going to take a seat and listen to whatever they had to say.

While Chloe had greatly appreciated the message that had gone out on the radio broadcast, she'd already decided that coming here would be better than waiting at the clinic. Sure, the people who needed the most help would probably still be in their rooms - which she was chalking up to "the more things changed, the more they stayed the same" - but if she could maybe "accidentally" touch someone who wasn't as ill, maybe she could help them. It was trickery at its finest, but she had a feeling that was how this might have to go.

He had several weapons hidden on his body. Of course.

Dick was off to one of the sides of... Goddammit, he saw Bruce doing that. Fine. Dick made his way into the center of the auditorium and sat in a chair.

He was still crossing his arms, though.

Administration, please don't be offended if Hermione was looking more at the notes she'd brought with her from Tuesday rather than at you. It was just that you were a little disturbing to look at right now. For some reason.

"Some of the students were helping to examine the rock," she began, and don't think she felt a little guilty about exposing them to that. "A lot of things were learned to help us begin to determine what it is, exactly, such as the fact that while it gives off heat, but doesn't seem to have any reaction to any producible temperature. Spectroscopic analysis revealed shining bands in the rock when it was heated, though. It also does seem to be metallic, and magnetic at that, and seems to have an affinity for electricity."

Had she had to Google a word or two? Yes, yes she had. She would never admit this out loud.

Karla looked a little unsure as she stood, but spoke up anyway. "I guess the next thing we need to figure out is, well, what can we do? Neither scientific nor magical healing seems to have any effect on the spread of the disease, either in people or the land. Our friends are changing physically and there seem to be some mental and emotional changes as well. We know the rock is somehow at fault, but that's about it. I think we need more information. Maybe not about the rock itself, but other things. If we know more, maybe we can figure out what can be done to fix it."

Well... Bo could still string complete sentences together, even if there was a constant thrum of white noise and familiar-but-not hunger in her skull. But rational? Nothing about this was rational.
