Fandom High Auditorium, Thursday Afternoon

As whatever was happening on the island became less and less likely to be cleared up with a good old fashioned fight, it seemed it was time to figure out just what to do next. So, a radio announcement let people know to meet up at the school to pool their resources and go over what they knew so far.

Even if some of the people who were supposed to be in charge weren’t looking quite so well anymore...

Karla looked a little unsure as she stood, but spoke up anyway. "I guess the next thing we need to figure out is, well, what can we do? Neither scientific nor magical healing seems to have any effect on the spread of the disease, either in people or the land. Our friends are changing physically and there seem to be some mental and emotional changes as well. We know the rock is somehow at fault, but that's about it. I think we need more information. Maybe not about the rock itself, but other things. If we know more, maybe we can figure out what can be done to fix it."

"Abominations of nature!" Deadpool replied brightly, examining his hands. "Wow, I'm like Liev Schreiber now."

A beat.

"I have no idea what I'm adding to this."

"I don't think you are," Karla said, eying him. "Are you trying to offer something useful in your own crazy way that we have to try to puzzle into sense?"

Since talking to Tersa, Karla had decided that Deadpool was some kind of crazy-ass Black Widow lost in the Twisted Kingdom.

"I have no ide~a," Deadpool sang, clawing at the seat now. "Aww, like a kitty."

Hey, people should be glad he wasn't overtly homicidal yet.

Having Deadpool overtly homicidal would be terrifying.

Karla was just going to back up a step or two, here.

"So, I don't suppose you want to discuss your symptoms?"

Deadpool tapped his fingers against the chair again, as if thinking that over. Then yanked the mask off. "I dunno--what do you think, kiddo?"

Karla didn't flinch. That was nothing compared to waking up and watching Warren's feathers fall out. "I think your complexion could use a bit of exfoliating. I mean beyond that. Tail? Claws? Thirst for blood? I'm trying to keep a list of symptoms."

"I've been for a walk through the town across the causeway," Jack volunteered. "No one would say anything beyond chatter about the weather to me, but someone else might have better luck. Or they might have nothing to do with this at all."

"Stab 'em until they talk." Yes, that was an excellent solution, Deadpool. Thank you for your help.

"Would the school bail me out if I did that?" Jack laughed.

"Well, they'll probably be dead, so no worries about pressing charges."

Jack squinted. Considered not saying anything.

No, he ... sort of had to say something. To clarify.

"I don't think that's exactly how it works, is it?"

"How many people are we planning to kill for this?" Deadpool asked, digging nails into the chair in front of him. Ooo! Nice and sharp!

"I wasn't planning on killing anyone," Jack said, rather prim. "You brought up the possibility."

He rested his chin on his hand. "If they're all dead, they probably wouldn't be much help to our inquiries anyhow."

"All this crap started when we moved. The people in town have to know something, or at least who we should talk to if they don't want to chat," Jason said. Island takeovers, he was used to, but this one was just creepy.

"Which means we're going to cut them into pieces until they tell us something." What they were supposed to tell them was... lost on Deadpool at the moment.

"Ooor we could just threaten to do that?" Jason said. "And punching is better. You know, 'cause there's less bloodshed."

"I'm not following."

And that would be why Jason was taking a small step back. "We don't have to kill people for information. We could just scare it out of them. I don't think the troopers would appreciate us getting too violent." Even Jason had his limits ~~for now~~.

"We don't have to tell them about it, right?" RIGHT, JASON?

"You don't think they'd notice if we came back covered in blood?" It would totally get everywhere, surely.

Definitely a Robin, no doubt about that.

"Think it's worth going over there to shake information out of them?" Stephanie asked, glancing over. A beat. "Not necessarily literally."

"Not even a lil'?"

"It can't hurt," Jason said, frowning for a moment. "I mean, okay, it could hurt if they try anything, but yeah, I think it's worth the risk. At least shaking wouldn't be entirely violent."
