Fandom High Auditorium, Thursday Afternoon

As whatever was happening on the island became less and less likely to be cleared up with a good old fashioned fight, it seemed it was time to figure out just what to do next. So, a radio announcement let people know to meet up at the school to pool their resources and go over what they knew so far.

Even if some of the people who were supposed to be in charge weren’t looking quite so well anymore...

Gray wasn’t the most charming color when it came to human skin tone.

"Yeah, but of the two of us, I'm the smoker," she joked, still watching Kate's sword. "That's kinda cool. Kind of inconvenient, though, I'd think."

"Feeding it is inconvenient," she had to admit. "But the smoking..." Kate shrugged, "I don't find that a problem. Useful even, if you're trying to put the fear of the gods into people who don't know better."

"You have to feed it?" Ramona repeated, dropping a hip to support the weight of her hammer. "Seriously? I'm feeling seriously lucky here."

Kate hitched a shrug. "It's worth it." It was one of those things that she was so used to at this point, she didn't even think about it. "Only once a month or so. It's the same for any magical weapon. Where I'm from, anyway."

"Yours looks heavy." Which would be a downside to her. Each to their own.

"It is," Ramona sighed, patting her hammer as it gave off a fuzzy little glow for a second. "I should send it back to the weapons locker but I...just kinda feel better being armed right now, you know?"

"I'm going to agree. I wouldn't be without mine right now." Hence the uncomfortably tight grip she had on her sword's hilt, the throwing knifes in her belt, and the silver needles in her wrist sheathes. Kate believed strongly in being well armed.

"I was starting to things trying to eat me when I left a building wasn't such a deal here." Until this week, anyway. "The way people are talking, this doesn't feel like a one-off."

"I don't think it is," Ramona said, shaking her head. "This isn't...ponies, or turning four, or even giant spiders. This has been going on too long already."

"And it's spreading," Kate noted, nodding at the slowly greying people around them. "That's not good."

"I just hope it's not airborne." Otherwise, standing here was becoming a dicey choice.
