Fandom High Auditorium, Thursday Afternoon

As whatever was happening on the island became less and less likely to be cleared up with a good old fashioned fight, it seemed it was time to figure out just what to do next. So, a radio announcement let people know to meet up at the school to pool their resources and go over what they knew so far.

Even if some of the people who were supposed to be in charge weren’t looking quite so well anymore...

Gray wasn’t the most charming color when it came to human skin tone.

"That's what I'm clinging to," Karla admitted. "I almost did a dance when I heard other people were sick, too. Not because I want that, but--"

She figured Sookie would understand.

"I need to be able to do something," she said. "Anything. Fix one tiny little thing. But I can't Heal anyone, I can't Heal the land, I have no idea about how to beat a rock..." She sniffled. "I hate this."

"...Though getting something to eat might help, too."

"But at least now we know our boys and Emma aren't being targeted," Sookie finished quietly. "We'll figure it out. We've got Fandom's best and brightest on this, and it's a rock. Maybe it just doesn't respond to magic? If your Craft won't work, and Raven's stuff didn't, I bet that if I went out there and zapped the rock, it wouldn't do anything, either. Maybe it's just...a new explanation. One we aren't used to, yet."

She paused, giving Karla a tight squeeze, and added, "And I'm going to make sure you eat something, don't you worry. And food'll help you keep going and find something to do."

"I refuse to be beaten by a rock," Karla said, drawing on her inner reserves of stubborn pig-headedness to keep her going. "It's a big, stupid, squishy, rock. We are going to fix this and stop it and then I will dance a jog on whatever rubble is left behind."

If it had a heart, she'd eat it!

Or, well, threaten to.

"Atta girl," Sookie said, smiling faintly. "You show that rock who's boss, babe. Remember how you treated that maenad? And Bill? No rock is going to get the best of you. Can't happen."

"Well, the best of us, anyway," Karla said, looking around at the auditorium. "So far, I haven't been at the forefront of usefulness against it. But if someone figures out what to do, I'll be right there."
