Home Ec, Tuesday, 1 period

Today the class room is set up with gas stoves on each desk. The desks also have frying pans, spatulas in every version possible, small sharp knives and a cutting board. There's also a collection of food, just in case you were in doubt of what today's lesson is all about. About 36 eggs, chili, bacon, tomatos, olive oil, butter, green peppers, yellow peppers, red peppers, sausages, cheese, ham, pineapple, oranges and nacho chips.

Emma is standing in front of her desk. It looks a little like all she's wearing is a white apron. On either side of her are boxes. One is full of aprons, the other has recipe boxes.

"Good morning, students. Today we are going to make omelettes," Emma says, determined. She gestures towards the boxes. "Pick yourself an apron and a recipe box. You will use those today and then you will place them in the boxes you decorated last week."

As the students walk past her, she hands out a piece of paper.

This was easy. Cameron grabbed a 'Kiss the cook' apron and looked through the ingredients on the table, hoping they had the right sort of cheese.

"Yo, man," John said, sidling up. "Wanna burn something?"

Re: Cooking!

Cameron grinned at John. "I was more hoping to actually be able to eat it afterwards."

Jamie looks at the recipe and then at the stove.

Why the hell hadn't he ever sent a dupe out to learn how to cook?

This could get messy.

River looked at Jamie looking at the stove. She didn't have a lot of experience with cooking either. "Want to try this together?"

"You ever cook before?" Jamie said grabbing six eggs. "Because unless you can make an omelette in a microwave I can't do it."

Tyler took some eggs, bacon and a green pepper, and busied himself tying to see how high the flame on his stove would go.

Re: Cooking!

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2007-01-16 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Tyler turned the flame down and stepped back quickly. "Wasn't going to," he said, a little sullenly. "Sorry."

6 was... cheery. With the tall, chubby spy watching him, he had no choice. You may notice that he's not doing a very good job. He's still scowling, just with the edges of his mouth turned up. He put on his apron and confronted the stove.

Jim put on his apron and walked over by that guy he met last night. He was odd. Watching him cook could be highly entertaining. "Hey. Ready to get cooking?"

Re: Cooking!

[identity profile] defiantlyyours.livejournal.com 2007-01-17 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Dammit dammit dammit dammit!

"Yes! Ready to cook and learn and absorb, and you can tell anyone that," 6 said, as agreeable as expired milk trying to pass itself off as fresh off the cow. "I never did catch your name last night, by the way."

Since he was prepared for it this time, Alec was a little less shell-shocked and pulled on an apron with a brightly colored chicken on it, grabbing a metal recipe box with fancy little chili pepper cards to go in.

He also got some of all the ingredients, apparently having no taste at all, and then stared at them, trying to figure out exactly what to do with them.

Dawn grabbed a bright blue apron and a plain wooden recipe box with colored recipe cards, then gathered some of every ingredient except tomatoes, because yick, and plunked it all down near Alec. "Need a partner?"

Re: Cooking!

[identity profile] x5-alec.livejournal.com 2007-01-16 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Alec grinned. "Sure. I think I have to warn you I have no idea how to cook an omelette though."

Annette grabbed a Kiss the Cook apron and tied it on as she made her way to a desk. She set the recipe down and turned on the stove.

Then she turned it up higher. How high does it go? She wanted to make sure the eggs would get cooked fully so she turned it up again. And then again until she started feeling nice and toasty.

"Oh, we should just roast marshmallows."

Demyx looked at Annette, looking at the stove and whimpered slightly. Cooking. His worst enemy. "...Um..." He watched the fire, shrinking back from it. "..." Only through sheer force of will did he not dump water on it just yet.

She smiled, tried to be reassuring. "It's all right. We can do it. I promise." She popped a piece of pineapple in her mouth.

"Okay, um, let's see...we need oil. See the oil? Dump some in the skillet please?"

Maia grabbed an apron with a frog on it. She sighed to herself as she went over to a stove to start preparing her dish. Eggs and Maia never seemed to get along all that great.

Dean grabbed one of the 'kiss the cook' aprons and a plain recipe box, then grabbed some eggs, ham, cheese and peppers and looked around for a partner.

This assignment? Easy.

Annette thought about popping Dean in the back of the head with a pineapple chunk.

Stark was hoping none of these eggs had names or egg-parents, otherwise cracking them and eating them would be kind of wrong. Still, he was hungry, so he grabbed a blue apron, a box, and an assortment of ingredients.

Re: Cooking!

[identity profile] girlsnamehere.livejournal.com 2007-01-17 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
JD joined Stark, staring in trepidation at the pan. "So, uh, do we just throw them in and watch what happens?"

"Might help to crack the eggs first," Stark suggested. "And mix them? But...other than that. Yes. Just see what happens. I think."
