Home Ec, Tuesday, 1 period

Today the class room is set up with gas stoves on each desk. The desks also have frying pans, spatulas in every version possible, small sharp knives and a cutting board. There's also a collection of food, just in case you were in doubt of what today's lesson is all about. About 36 eggs, chili, bacon, tomatos, olive oil, butter, green peppers, yellow peppers, red peppers, sausages, cheese, ham, pineapple, oranges and nacho chips.

Emma is standing in front of her desk. It looks a little like all she's wearing is a white apron. On either side of her are boxes. One is full of aprons, the other has recipe boxes.

"Good morning, students. Today we are going to make omelettes," Emma says, determined. She gestures towards the boxes. "Pick yourself an apron and a recipe box. You will use those today and then you will place them in the boxes you decorated last week."

As the students walk past her, she hands out a piece of paper.

Tyler signed in and took an apron with a huge teddy bear on the front and a plain recipe box.

This was easy. Cameron grabbed a 'Kiss the cook' apron and looked through the ingredients on the table, hoping they had the right sort of cheese.

Jamie looks at the recipe and then at the stove.

Why the hell hadn't he ever sent a dupe out to learn how to cook?

This could get messy.

Tyler took some eggs, bacon and a green pepper, and busied himself tying to see how high the flame on his stove would go.

Bravo! I've had dreams like that. ;)
Nice to know I'm not the only one. :)

Okay, this was going to be a little awkward. Setsuna approached her teacher with firm knowledge that what she was going to say probably would sound crazy. "Excuse me, sensei," she bobbed her head in a sort of bow, "but...would there be severe consequences in asking to be excused from the assignment? I...have...issues with cooking with eggs..." Being born from one kinda did that to a person.

"Yo, man," John said, sidling up. "Wanna burn something?"

Tyler turned the flame down and stepped back quickly. "Wasn't going to," he said, a little sullenly. "Sorry."

Cameron grinned at John. "I was more hoping to actually be able to eat it afterwards."

"I just...can't..." Setsuna took in a deep breath. It wasn't easy to explain strangely particular quirks about eggs to a woman wearing little more than an apron. "I can't bring myself to actually break them. It's...a very complicated sort of mental block. I...I suppose I could just find a partner who doesn't mind, but I think I'd much rather prefer to be excused from the assignment, if that's at all possible."

"Perfectionist," John quipped. "Suppose we could try to make it eatable."

[Slow for work, woe. And AFK in a few hours.]

"I take my food very seriously," Cameron pointed out and sulked a little when he realised there wasn't any advocado.
