Advanced Criminal Justice, Class 29, Period 1, 04.25.06

[OOC: I should really focus on the work stuff today. Therefore, light interaction from me. And one last movie day for you. Class Info Post.]

"Hello, students! Remember, next Tuesday is your final. Since it's been such a persistent metaphor this semester, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a question about the Tricycle of Justice."

"Thursday will be a review day. Bring any question you have about Justice and I'll answer it! But for today, you get off easy. Today we'll be watching one last episode off Crime & Punishment for the semester. This is the controversial episode where a party clown was found dead in the Mayor's kitchen pantry."

"This week's metaphor is the sun, while this week's extra credit is to bring is some snazzy, summery sunglasses."

"Enjoy!"

Aeryn watches, and while she actually kind of likes the show, it's her first actual introductions to clowns. And she thinks they are weird.

"Any ideas what the clown was doing there in the first place?" Callisto asked.

Angel frowned when he heard the assignment.

He raised his hand. "Um, sir?"

Oh God, this show again. Archie can't figure out why exactly the clown was killed. Seriously, it's much less creepy than the clowns he remembers.

"Sir, being a fairly non-threatening clown wouldn't be considered to be a case requiring extreme vigilante justice, would it? At least, to some minds of dubious stability?"

Cameron took a seat and scowled at the screen. Either he really hated this series or something else was going on.

Veronica is pretending to pay attention, but she's really worrying about Piper, who has been coughing a lot since their run-in with those demon chicks last night.

Marty throws a paper airplane at V.

No sailor suit? Was Archie disappointed?

Bridge is starting to think the dead man is actually the clown's twin, who had dressed up as a clown to save his brother and his friends.

Parker's shaking her head, and sometimes throwing popcorn at the detectives. Because seriously. Why is it always the clowns that suffer?

Sam stole some of Parker's popcorn. "Okay, I didn't think cops could do that."

Anakin watched the show, his face looking more and more confused as the episode unfolded.

He used to think that Senate debates were complicated.

Metaphor

The bright rays of the sun of Justice chase away the darkness of Injustice

Marty's Make up Essay

In the slumber party of society, there is only one weapon against the panty raiders of villainy. While some may say the Parental Figures of the Judicial system and the Time out/Groundings of the Penal systems heh. heh. He said "penal". heh. heh. play an important role in the slumber party society, it is truly the Pillow Fighters of Law Enforcement that can defend all the lingerie wearing teenage girls from being victims of a horrible crime.

And it goes on from there...

Metaphor

Justice is a ray of sunshine that burns through you and destroys your very being, if you're a being that doesn't respond really well to sunlight. If you're a being that can actually get a tan, justice doesn't hurt quite so much, though it can still be uneven and make it hard for you to figure out what to wear to match your skin tones.

Justice is...

Parker's brain is melting. Too. Much. Studying.

...the center of the Virtue Galaxy, around which all other planets like Truth, Beauty, and the occasional comet like Inspiration or Unique Taste Flavors, revolve. Without Justice, the whole shebang falls apart into random planets colliding with each other and causing damage on sub-atomic and cosmic scales, taking all possibility of life evolving, developing language skills, and designing new shoes, with it.

Metaphor

Justice is a sun, keeping the planets of Society rotating around itself (or themselves, if it's a binary system--because Justice could be divided into two separate yet equal parts). But if the sun goes out Society will go pinging off into space with nothing to control it.

Janet wore a lovely pair of sunglasses while writing her metaphor.

The dazzling glare of sunlight causes criminals to squint and be unable to see, therefore foiling their evil acts.

She was still trying to figure out how the heck to work 'trains' and 'justice' together into an essay, though.
