"You haven't been the victim of any strange, near-fatal accidents yet today, have you?" asked Janet, gesturing Liz behind the Collections Desk. "I'm going to kill Callisto if she kills you. Parker asked me if the anonymous sources were on crack. I said they'd better be!"
"No, not yet. And I've even survived StuCo with both Angel and Callisto," Elizabeth replied, hurrying behind the Collections Desk. "Sources on crack works too! I wish I knew who they were!"
"That's kind of odd," said Janet. "Not that I'm not glad that there have been no mysterious impalements, beheadings, or immolations around you, but that's very odd." She frowned. "Callisto and Angel aren't breaking up the day before prom are they?" She frowned even more. "If they break up over Angel having a crush on you, that would be bad."
Elizabeth paled. "No, none of those," she said, eyes wide. "And I don't know! I've left the room for government and student council and now here! And it'd be very bad. Very, very bad!"
Janet took Liz's hand and squeezed it. "I'm sure it'll be fine." She smiled reassuringly. "I could always go explain very calmly to Angel how I'm sure his feelings are misplaced and they need to go away now."
Yes. Calmly. Which is why Janet's voice got a lot little more forceful there.
"Of course I do," said Janet, in her best 'let's explain to Jack, Daniel, Sam, or Teal'c again exactly why staying in the infirmary is the best thing for them' voice.
So, no. Not calmly. But she was doing a halfway reasonable job at pretending to be calm. Also she wasn't letting go of Liz's hand quiet yet.
Elizabeth was actually quite scared of Janet now as well. But scared in a good way, considering she wasn't the one who needed to be scared of her. "Okay," she said in a small voice.
"How long have I known Sam and Jack? How happily engaged are the General and Lieutenant Colonel?" Janet shook her head. "Don't even try to fool me. Maybe there's a thing going on by now back there."
"I know," said Janet, nudging Liz with her shoulder and smiling at her. "For one thing, he wasn't our John Sheppard. For another, he's not here anymore anyway."
