"Thankfully not around me yet," Elizabeth grinned. "I don't know. I guess it'll depend on what sort of fraternization regulations are in place for Atlantis." She might have taken a step closer to Janet. "And if you were military or not."

"You haven't gotten yourself injured around me yet." She rolled her eyes. "I guess they might've gotten a bit relaxed, stuck there for a year with no way home. And maybe I was a civilian scientist with a very high security clearance?"

"And I'm hopefully going to keep it that way," Elizabeth said, unconciously flexing her knee. "I'm thinking that's likely. After all, who wants to isolate themselves from other people on purpose? And we did have mostly civilian scientists there, so again with the likeliness."

"Otherwise your good image of me will be ruined," said Janet, eyeing Liz's knee. "I'm sure we would have gotten closer. After all, we'd have had to talk about medical concerns. And yes, exactly. Weren't the only military there soldiers?"

"Oh, I'm thinking not even needles can do that," Elizabeth grinned. "Medical concerns, yes. I'm sure they'd be plenty of them. Pretty much. We had a few military scientists around; more once the Dedaleus was able to make fequent trips to us."

"I'm just that alluring, I guess," said Janet dryly. She stuck her tongue out at Liz. "Probably enough to necessitate a lot of meetings. I don't know about you, but I'll bet I'd want to be very comfortable during these meetings." Janet nodded. "Well, yes. But I think we might've gotten to be friends more quickly if I were a civilian."

"You really, really are," Elizabeth said simply. "Well, I'm thinking if there's going to be a lot of them, then, yes, my office simply wouldn't cut it." Elizabeth nodded along with her. "Yeah, I think we probably would have done."

"If you say so," said Janet, smiling. "So where do you think the best place would be, then?" Janet stuck her tongue out at Liz. "So I'd be a civilian scientist and we'd have some very relaxed frat regs. And lots of meetings about medical issues."

"Well, the issues with the rec areas was that there tended to always be people there," Elizabeth looked thoughtful. "Which wouldn't be much good if we were discussing sensitive material. So, I guess quarters perhaps." Elizabeth stuck her tongue back at Janet in return. "That sounds like a universe I could live in quite happily."

Janet nodded seriously. "Would we ever talk about anything but medical issues, though?" she asked. "I'd be fascinated, but I'd expect you might be bored after a while."

"Well, I'm sure I can just let you talk about medical issues for a while," Elizabeth said. "But I expect our conversations would start to vary."

"They probably would," said Janet, nodding thoughtfully. "I'm sure there would be a lot else to talk about."

"Well, considering the variety our conversations here have, I'm sure our alternates could also come up with different topics," Elizabeth agreed.

"Probably," said Janet. "I might even get to know you well enough to tell you about my ex-husband." She grimaced. "Jerk."

Elizabeth smiled sympathetically. "And I'm sure I can tell you about the string of losers I've gone through, but thankfully never got quite as far as marrying them," she said.

"So we'd probably be very glad for each other," said Janet. "I could imagine that."

"Yes, I never really had a close female friend in Atlantis," Elizabeth said. "I'm pretty certain your presence would rectify that."

"It's hard being in charge," said Janet. "Even a lowly CMO of a top secret base in a mountain can empathize over that one."

"I'm sure we could do lots of empathizing together over that," Elizabeth nodded.

"I'll bet we would. For hours at a time, maybe." Janet just smiled. "I don't know about you, but I think I'd get hungry after a while."

"Alas, we would have to suffer the Atlantis mess for food," Elizabeth sighed. "But we could always keep each other company whilst we ate."

"We'd be keeping each other company a lot," said Janet. "I hope it wouldn't bother anyone. And I hope the food is decent too."

"I'm sure they'd understand friendship," Elizabeth said. "It's likely we wouldn't be the only ones pairing off, um, like that. The food varies. It depends on whether or not the Dedaleus has been recently, or not."

"There are a lot of very close friendship pairings on Atlantis?" asked Janet teasingly. "How about food from Pegasus? Is any of it any good?"

"There were several on their way when I was last there," Elizabeth said, considering for a moment. "What we've found so far has been edible. Not great, but there's no chance of us starving as long as we can get access to it."
