"Wine" Tasting and Drinking Games

Anyone showing up for class today would notice some ominous bottles filled with clear greenish liquid sitting on the bar.

"So. Today's wine choice is absinthe," Jessica began. "And yeah, I know. It's not wine. Whatever. We're fucking drinking it."

She pulled off the cap and started to pour a glass for everyone. "The taste profile is that shitty black jelly bean you accidentally ate with a hint of dusty herbs that someone keeps in their pantry but only break it out during thanksgiving dinner so they don't really taste like they should."

"Oh and supposedly it's supposed to make you hallucinate but I guess that's a bullshit urban myth. So if you start seeing fairies or whatever then they're probably real. As for tonight's drinking game we're all going to pretend we're at some teenager sleepover and play truth or dare."

Because the combination of absinthe and truth and dare is a chemical reaction that Jessica wanted to see happen.

"Let's start shall we?"

Which was why she was going to go ahead and take a double, yes please. Even if the licorice taste really didn't do it for her.

Well, this was going to bring Rosa back to some of her times as an edgy teen who thought drinking absinthe clearly made her cool, so this made the game choice seem particularly appropriate.

And truth be told, a part of her still felt that drinking absinthe clearly made you cool.

Well, this brought Amaya back to the sorts of things you'd find on the Hobblepots' shelves back home! And if hallucinate was all it made you do, you were considered lucky!

So she was tentative with her glass, sniffing it suspiciously before giving it a little taste, wrinkling her nose, and then drinking a little more.

It definitely tasted better than she imagined anything on the Hobblepots' shelves would taste, she could tell you that much! And it did not taste great!

Shunsui really couldn't help being amused by the bottle. It would be a bit on the nose for a shinigami, but one couldn't help but appreciate a little dramatic flair.

Either way, he was, of course, trying a little on it's own, as well as a little mixed in with some sake. Like you do.

"Pretty sure the hallucinations were because this used to be made with wormwood," Duke said, lifting his glass. He was, of course, no stranger to absinthe. "I'm going to need some sugar, a lighter, and a silver spoon, please."

"Truth ♥," Shunsui decided, easily, with a blithe wave of his hand, another sip of his absinthe-sake cocktail, and a sleepy smile to match the crawling tone.

After all, Dare just ran the risk of having to actually do something, so there was really no question in the matter.

I had absinthe a few times while living abroad. I'm pretty sure by the third time I could actually feel my throat try to close up in protest, but I tell ya what, nothing on this earth has ever gotten me drunker faster. . . .
