Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, Saturday, All Day

However weather magic worked around here on any given day, the weather for the welcome picnic wasn't all that bad. It was a little chilly outside (50F/10C), but not as awful as January could be, and the bonfire in the middle of the lawn was providing a nice amount of warmth. No one noticed who specifically put the cute presents around it, but the gifts looked harmless and ignoring non-dangerous weird things was just how a lot of people coped with living here, okay?

The food was ready, the tables and chairs had been spread across the lawn, and everything was ready to welcome a new batch of folks to the island!

As per tradition,Sabine was looking for her little sib with a graffitied sign she'd made bearing the name "Fragile." (Which she hoped people knew was a name and not like some kind of statement.) She'd waited a while to find her siblings before, that wasn't a problem.

It was a problem when it was taking this long.

Wonderful! It was finally here! The welcome picnic, and Sidon had his very last little sibling to help usher into the world of Fandom High! Poor Heather wouldn't even know what hit her, because he was determined to ensure that this last sibling got the utmost best Sidon had to offer!

Now, if only he could just find her, a task that should not be as difficult as it was proving to be, because it would seem that none of the faces he was seeing toward were at all unfamiliar, which was very curious and a little bit worrisome indeed...

Last night's shenanigans had left Prompto feeling pretty tired that day, but it was a good tired, an accomplished one, because, man. It was so nice and so rare when you had a perfect vision for something and it turned out exactly the way you hoped it would, and quite possibly even better. And he couldn't wait to find out what all these newbs had to say about coming to their new school in what was essentially a giant yellow chicken bus.

He might have let him sleep in a little, but he did have a new sibling, and he felt it was always best to get on that pretty quickly so, tired as he was, he got some coffee and then went looking around for who might be Alexis, to introduce himself and help get her orientated. But as he started looking around for new faces, something seemed a little...off? Maybe it was because he was so sleepy, but it almost seemed like there weren't really any new faces at all?

What?

Clearly, he just needed more coffee. Man...

Ulysses had not signed up to be a fake sibling. Ulysses did not think he should under any circumstances be assigned a fake little sibling.

He had been assigned one.

And it was already going super not-great, because he couldn't even find this Cass he was supposed to like, welcome to the acid trip that was this island and this school. But at least he probably stood out from the crowd in his canary yellow faux fur jacket? And maybe that'd call Cass to him? Because he was already out of ideas, otherwise.

Nell wasn't sure how she'd come to be a big sister to a new student, but she was determined to do her very best to make the new student feel comfortable in this rather odd place. She'd made a small sign and was looking for Sea Hawk - whoever or whatever that was.

Liam and Verity had arrived back in Fandom late enough Friday night that it was technically Saturday morning.

Sure, it meant Liam had only been able to catch a few hours sleep before heading out to the picnic but 1) he didn't actually need more than about three hours to be totally functional and 2) it was a few hours of sleep in his own bed and not in a hotel, which made it that much better.

But he was here, he was ready to chat with any new (or returning!) students or teachers, and- yeah, he was sporting some new jewelry on his left ring finger.

It had been a very busy break, okay?

So not only had Duke been assigned a random class, he apparently also managed to get himself a "teaching buddy".

Well, if he could pay Hannibal's brain-breaking first day welcome forward, that was just what he was going to do. Assuming he ever found his new assigned new teacher.

He wasn't really looking very hard. Apparently showing up to the picnic for the snacks was, like, tradition or something. Far be it for him to buck that.

So, Summer was totally there, just sort of chilling back, with a soda, a sweet pair of shades. Y'know. NBD.

Trying to keep a smirk off her face about it, but not doing a terribly good job. Honestly, she was totally impressed with herself that she did manage to be so chill and wasn't, like, just totally bouncing around and flinging herself at evvverrryyboooddddyyyyy right now.

Just when Rosa was starting to feel like maybe she and the moose had finally gotten an understanding (since he hadn't bothered messing up any of her classes for a while now), he had to go and do something like this. Ugh. She seemed to be particularly irritated to be there (yes, yes, more so than normal), and ready to just glare daggers at any face that looked a little bit new. Especially any faces that seemed particularly new and might belong to a person named Jaskier.

But since she actually wasn't noticing too many new faces, it might just have to be glares for familiar ones. With a small slice of frustration and confusion that the one face she did want to see wasn't one she was yet seeing, either.

Because you really didn't need to know Rosa well to know that she planned to immediately try to pawn a Teaching Buddy off on Blackstone as son as humanly possible.

Especially a Teaching Buddy with a name like Jaskier.

At least one of the teachers would be found underneath a tree, legs folded in front of his, his posture suggesting something like meditation, though the tilt of his hat to mostly cover his face (and even the smallest amount of knowledge about him whatsoever) suggested napping.

Which Shunsui'd probably still be doing right now even if he hadn't been woken up in the middle of the night by meddling kids with machinations toward buses, but it was nice that he had an excuse on hand.

He was, on occasion, lifting said hat to take a slight glance around, mostly to see if any new incoming teachers appeared to be lovely ladies that might require an introduction, but so far, everyone seemed vaguely familiar at least, so he'd just lower the hat again and resume his beauty rest catch-up.

Beau had taken off for her home world this morning, and Karolina was... not super thrilled with it, all things considered? But she was dealing with it. And the picnic was just the right thing for that!

She was sporting a name tag that said Guidance Counselor Karolina with a little rainbow sticker at the end, and she was carrying a little basket on one arm, with tiny welcome packets for the new kids.

Only... so far she had not been able to find a single one of the new students. Which probably explained why she was frowning a little, as she looked around.

Welcome picnic with weird little gifts popping up everywhere? Hell yeah! Magnus was super down with that. He was down for a lot of things, though. It was sort of his characterization thing.

"Hey, where are the new people?" he asked loudly. "Because I totally know all of you."

Why did he just announce this? Because the GM narrative right there begged for it and he was a good, good boy.

Since the weather wasn't terrible, Kitty didn't feel bad about bundling Lexi up to hang out at the picnic for a while. She found a seat where she could put Lexi on her lap to people watch, and then try to get down for a while before demanding to be let up again, only to decide she really did want down again, no wait no she didn't.

It was actually a decent distraction from how many people weren't available for watching.

It had been a good couple of weeks off. Relaxing, even, because there had been no major demon activity in their area since just after Thanksgiving, apparently, so Kennedy was looking well-rested and cheerful today.

So far, anyway.

That was going to change once she realized there was a distinct lack of newbies, needless to say. Just because she didn't know any of them yet, didn't mean they didn't already fall under the banner of 'these are my people and you don't fuck with my people.'

Liam? Definitely not single by any stretch of the imagination (he had the paperwork to prove it and everything!), but he had a plate piled high with picnic food and he was absolutely ready to mingle.

Though as the day wore on, his good mood started to dissipate as he got the distinct feeling that Something Wasn't Right.

Tisarwat was looking forward to enjoying a picnic like this when she herself wasn't so culture-shocked and fresh and new, especially since it afforded a good opportunity to just people watch a bit, so long as she studiously avoided watching anyone eating with their hands. She had her tea with her, of course, as she settled at one of the tables for a little while, considering which foods had not required hands to possibly help herself to some later. Sure, she was much more used to it now, but finger foods still put a pretty big damper on her appetite overall.

Also, the island hadn't been... too bad this holiday season?
