Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, Saturday, All Day

However weather magic worked around here on any given day, the weather for the welcome picnic wasn't all that bad. It was a little chilly outside (50F/10C), but not as awful as January could be, and the bonfire in the middle of the lawn was providing a nice amount of warmth. No one noticed who specifically put the cute presents around it, but the gifts looked harmless and ignoring non-dangerous weird things was just how a lot of people coped with living here, okay?

The food was ready, the tables and chairs had been spread across the lawn, and everything was ready to welcome a new batch of folks to the island!

Yay for meeting new people!

[Obviously, feel free to use this space to WTF with anyone who wants to ping in over the fact that your siblings have not arrived!]

As per tradition,Sabine was looking for her little sib with a graffitied sign she'd made bearing the name "Fragile." (Which she hoped people knew was a name and not like some kind of statement.) She'd waited a while to find her siblings before, that wasn't a problem.

It was a problem when it was taking this long.

This was Tip's last chance to get a new little sibling, so of course she'd signed up. And she was all set to welcome MOMO. . . . If they ever got here.

She saw Sabine waiting too and headed over. "Do you know if the bus has gotten in yet?"

"Haven't seen it yet," Sabine answered, frowning. "I'm starting to think it broke down on the way here or something."

“Oh man.” Tip winced. “I don’t think that’s ever happened before. At least not since I’ve been here.”

"If they've been using the same bus the whole time it wouldn't shock me by now," Sabine said with a shrug. "I'm also not sure how long we're supposed to wait around."

Tip gave her a sidelong look. “Got better things to do, Wren?”

"I can always come up with something else to do," Sabine said with a little smile, and more seriously said, "Mostly I'm getting bored of walking around with a sign."

“That’s fair. Maybe set it down and go hang out. I bet we’ll be able to tell when they finally get here.”

Wonderful! It was finally here! The welcome picnic, and Sidon had his very last little sibling to help usher into the world of Fandom High! Poor Heather wouldn't even know what hit her, because he was determined to ensure that this last sibling got the utmost best Sidon had to offer!

Now, if only he could just find her, a task that should not be as difficult as it was proving to be, because it would seem that none of the faces he was seeing toward were at all unfamiliar, which was very curious and a little bit worrisome indeed...

"Sidon? Have you maybe seen someone named Sea Hawk around?" Nell asked. "M'sposed to be their big sibling, but I can't find them anywhere."

"Nell! Hello!" Sidon greeted her warmly, brightly, with open arms...or about as warmly and brightly as he could, what with his own growing worry and concern. "I am afraid that I must admit that I have not! As a matter of fact, I seem to be having a great deal of difficulty finding my own sibling, by the name of Heather, or any of the new students at all! Do you suppose they may have run into some trouble with the bus?"

He certainly hoped that whatever Nina and Prompto had planned to do to it this semester hadn't gone and caused such an undue delay!

"Gosh, I never thought about that," Nell said. "Is the bus often late?"

She considered for a moment. "Do you think someone should check on it?"

"Not that I can recall," Sidon admitted, with a small frown. "But I suppose there is a first time for everything. Perhaps someone should try to give Dean Skywalker a call? I believe he is the one behind the driver's seat again this semester."

"I s'pose we could," Nell said. "Do you have a phone and a number for him?" Nell herself didn't own one of them fancy ones, though she thought maybe if she got enough money saved up she might think about getting one.

"I do have a phone!" said Sidon, triumphantly taking a moment to pull it out from...soemwhere, who even knew where, it was still one of Fandom's greatest mysteries considered Sidon didn't exactly have pockets. "But, alas! I do not have Dean Skywalker's number!"

And it may have seemed, for a moment, as though all was lost, except...!

"But I do have acccess to the school directory! I shall call him post haste!"

And with that newfound excitement for their quickly spun plot, Sidon found the number, dialed it, and then...the flow of the excitement quickly ebbed right out of him, though only for a moment.

"It seems," he reported, "that he is currently unable to answer his phone! Perhaps he has it off, which would make sense if he is driving, as one should not allow themselves to be distracted while driving!"

"Yep, I can see where that would be a bad thing," Nell said. She didn't waste too much time wondering where Sidon might keep his phone. It was probably just some odd Fandom thing. For all she knew the phones just went invisible and disappeared and reappeared as one needed them.

"Can you'un leave a message for him at least?" she asked. "Though, gosh, you don't think there's been an accident or something and that's why he'd not answering?"

Last night's shenanigans had left Prompto feeling pretty tired that day, but it was a good tired, an accomplished one, because, man. It was so nice and so rare when you had a perfect vision for something and it turned out exactly the way you hoped it would, and quite possibly even better. And he couldn't wait to find out what all these newbs had to say about coming to their new school in what was essentially a giant yellow chicken bus.

He might have let him sleep in a little, but he did have a new sibling, and he felt it was always best to get on that pretty quickly so, tired as he was, he got some coffee and then went looking around for who might be Alexis, to introduce himself and help get her orientated. But as he started looking around for new faces, something seemed a little...off? Maybe it was because he was so sleepy, but it almost seemed like there weren't really any new faces at all?

What?

Clearly, he just needed more coffee. Man...

Ulysses had not signed up to be a fake sibling. Ulysses did not think he should under any circumstances be assigned a fake little sibling.

He had been assigned one.

And it was already going super not-great, because he couldn't even find this Cass he was supposed to like, welcome to the acid trip that was this island and this school. But at least he probably stood out from the crowd in his canary yellow faux fur jacket? And maybe that'd call Cass to him? Because he was already out of ideas, otherwise.

Shuri was very excited to meet Abigail, her new little sibling.

If...she ever got here. Huh.

"Has anyone seen the bus?"

Thank you, Shuri, that was actually a great thing to overhear!

"... Wait, maybe I'm not just shit at finding this Cass kid I'm supposed to talk to?"

"I don't think so," Shuri said, "unless you've spotted an Abigail already, too?"

"I have not." And he looked way too relieved about that. "Thank fuck, I thought it was just me."

"No, we're both apparently terrible fake siblings," Shuri said. "I'm excellent at being a real one, though."

Nell wasn't sure how she'd come to be a big sister to a new student, but she was determined to do her very best to make the new student feel comfortable in this rather odd place. She'd made a small sign and was looking for Sea Hawk - whoever or whatever that was.
