The Library is Open, 3/22 (Wednesday)

Zero has decided to actually do library-related work today. Wonder of wonders. She opens up the library promptly and sets to work, after setting out a box of danishes from Jeff, God of Biscuits and a carafe of coffee behind the collections desk where no one but official library personnel can get to them. She'll be here all day.

((I, however, will probably not be on until late afternoon/eveningish, so I thought I'd better get this up now so people can use the library throughout the day.))

Okay, before she does all that work, a quick nap. And then a pastry.

Kurt walked in and waved to Zero before heading to his office. His coffee mug today read "No, I'm not a person morning"

"Morning. Brought pastry," Zero mumbled without lifting her head.

Second Period

Zero is industriously going through the backlog of paperwork awaiting the librarian's signature (the last librarian couldn't really sign things) and helpfully marking where signatures are required with Post-It flags. Orange for signatures, green for initials.

Kurt wandered over to the stack of paperwork. Stack? Mountain more like. He sighed heavily and opened a new box of pens. He had a feeling he would need most of them.

Third Period

Zero is in a standoff with the door to the librarian's office. "No, of course I'm not the librarian, I'm the librarian's assistant, and in order to better assist him I need to put these on his desk. Please open up? Right. Of course you only move in Special Collections." She said a few things that might have been swears if they were actual words in any languages, then added hopefully, "I don't suppose you'd tell me where the key is?"

Peter walked into the library between classes. It was a bit of a refuge for him. He wouldn't feel weird having six arms among books. They're books, after all. And if he just so happened to see a certain library aide while he was here...

Oh, here was another aide he had to talk to anyway. "Hey, Janet. I was told that you might be able to help me with a slight condition that I have."

Parker waved as he came in, and waited 'til after he was done talking to Janet to say, "Hey. When you've got a minute, I have some amusing news for you."

"When doesn't it?" Zero grumbled, and kicked the door. "Ow!"

Parker wandered in, not really awake, and started sorting books. "Is it being stubborn? Again?"

"Again? More like always." Zero kicked the door again. "It would be disrespectful to pick the lock, wouldn't it?"

"It would probably think so." Parker yawned and stared at it. "Why is it in a tizzy? New librarian throwing it off, or what? Would more coffee make it happy?"

Fourth Period

A stack of papers is neatly arranged on the corner of the collections desk, orange and green Post-It Flags sticking out at odd angles. A neon pink Post-It is on top of the stack, with, "ATTN: Mr. (do you prefer Professor?) Wagner" scrawled on it.

The librarian may notice that most of the paperwork is order forms for new books, and a large section of these, from the titles, seem to be bad romance novels. That is probably because they are.

Zero is shelving in the nonfiction section.

Kurt dug through the paperwork. He shook his head and smiled. These kids sure loved their romances.

"Zero?" Kurt called out. "You can call me Kurt. But if you must be formal, then Mr. Wagner will do, ja."

Lunch

The library is closed so the aides may eat their lunch in peace. Get out or they may throw carrot sticks at you. Unless they really like you, of course.

Fifth Period

Zero is sitting at the computer, reporting an Amazon Marketplace dealer to the proper authorities. It seems her copy of The Pearl Blade hasn't arrived yet, after she ordered it several weeks ago.

And Rory's supposedly working on some kind of shorthand alphabet for journalism, but really, it looks like doodles.

Aeryn comes by specifically to see Rory, greeting her with a "Hi."

Zero is mopping. Yes, mopping. What, you thought the library cleaned itself?

And Rory is dusting, because she would feel bad if Zero was mopping and Rory was just, like, sitting there.

Seventh Period

Zero doesn't think anyone ever comes into the library during seventh period, but she's still here anyway, writing lyrics that might have to do with a certain six-armed boy in her notebook.
