The Library is Open, 3/22 (Wednesday)

Zero has decided to actually do library-related work today. Wonder of wonders. She opens up the library promptly and sets to work, after setting out a box of danishes from Jeff, God of Biscuits and a carafe of coffee behind the collections desk where no one but official library personnel can get to them. She'll be here all day.

((I, however, will probably not be on until late afternoon/eveningish, so I thought I'd better get this up now so people can use the library throughout the day.))

"Hi," said Janet, looking confused. "Is the Library giving you a hard time again?"

Peter walked into the library between classes. It was a bit of a refuge for him. He wouldn't feel weird having six arms among books. They're books, after all. And if he just so happened to see a certain library aide while he was here...

Oh, here was another aide he had to talk to anyway. "Hey, Janet. I was told that you might be able to help me with a slight condition that I have."

"Hey, Peter," said Janet. She blinked. "You didn't have that condition when you started the term here, did you?"

"No, this is pretty new, actually," Peter said. "I was told that you were big in curing Angel's a couple weeks ago and that was apparently pretty far out of the ordinary, so I was hoping you might be able to help me out, too."

And Rory's supposedly working on some kind of shorthand alphabet for journalism, but really, it looks like doodles.

And Rory is dusting, because she would feel bad if Zero was mopping and Rory was just, like, sitting there.

"I can try," said Janet, trying not to stare at the extra four limbs. "What the heck happened, anyway?"

Kurt walked in and waved to Zero before heading to his office. His coffee mug today read "No, I'm not a person morning"

Kurt wandered over to the stack of paperwork. Stack? Mountain more like. He sighed heavily and opened a new box of pens. He had a feeling he would need most of them.

"Military superscientists tried to screw with my already-screwed-with-genetics and turned right at Albuquerque," Peter said. "I have powers, but I lost them for about a week. And then this happened. I seem to be stabilized now, which is good."

Kurt dug through the paperwork. He shook his head and smiled. These kids sure loved their romances.

"Zero?" Kurt called out. "You can call me Kurt. But if you must be formal, then Mr. Wagner will do, ja."

"Are the extra arms an advantage or disadvantage?" asked Janet curiously. She started rummaging in her backpack, then pulled out a notebook. "Stabilized is good. Very good. Let me guess--they said they could only alter just a tiny bit of your genetic structure, without it having any secondary side effects?"

"There are a couple beneficial things, but I want them gone," Peter said. "I want to be back to normal."

"And actually, I wasn't consulted. I was down for the count after fighting a supervillain, some military guys grabbed me, gave me something to take away my powers, later that week, boom, I'm the six-armed man. I don't think they anticipated that part."

"Amateurs." Janet rolled her eyes. "There's nothing worse than arrogant amateurs. Honestly, if you're going to mess with someone's genetic structure, could you at least admit to not knowing everything about what you're doing?" She flipped open her notebook to a rather large bibliography of genetics books available that had hand-written notes about the books' contents. "I'm sorry about what happened, by the way. Those guys sound like the NID the Trust real jerks. Do you know what they were trying to do?"

"Um," Peter said, taking a glace at Janet's rather alarming notebook. "I made some people mad, so they were trying to take away my powers. Um, my powers were generated by an experimental serum that they didn't actually create, so they were probably taking a guess with the anti-serum. Do you always carry that kind of stuff around with you?"

"What?" asked Janet. She frowned, puzzled, then glanced down at her notebook. "This? Oh, genetics is kind of a hobby of mine. They were doing human experimentation on incomplete data? That's appalling."
