Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The forecasts had been calling for rain all week, so when it was time to get everything set up for the picnic and it was sunny and warm outside instead, well, that was hopefully a good sign of things to come.

There were tables set up all around the lawn of the school with blue and gold tableclothes and chairs, and the usual buffet of food (and ice cream!) was waiting for hungry folks to dig in. There was also a second table with nametags and lists to help the new people locate their siblings and roommates.

Once the food was ready and the tables were glittered, everything was set for a very pleasant picnic indeed.

Thanks to...complications with finding somewhere halfway safe to stash Rur-the-Dangerously-Unhinged, Aphra had missed the shuttle. Of course, when she'd gotten a look at this planet's main forms of transportation, that didn't seem so tragic.

She was starting to get a bad feeling about why this place hadn't been that thorough checking out her qualifications.

Philomena didn't remember much about the trip here. She'd found this new game on her phone with exploding stars and Roger Moore's bum that she'd gotten all engrossed in.

In fact, she was still playing that game as she walked... directly into a tree. Warily, she stared up at the tree, and then past it.

"Don't remember there being a castle this way 'round the shops," she said. "'specially not a French one."

So, the shuttle had been kind of a wild ride. A weird ride. A... ride. Jughead hadn't been sure what to expect of this place to begin with, and getting here had done nothing to make him feel more prepared.

Still, he found himself vaguely relieved to find that at least whoever had been in charge of the name tags had been at the top of their game. No Forsythe Pendleton in sight. Just plain old Jughead. As much as the thought of literally labeling himself with anything was annoying, that was still a comfort.

So he slapped the nametag on, then took a look around. So. This was Fandom.

Jesus Christ, how many picnics did this one make for Electroclash? She didn't even want to know.

But she grabbed a drink (non-spiked so far, sadly) and found a spot where she could stand in her uniform and watch people. Judgily.

Hannibal rather enjoyed these picnics; it was a good time to people-watch. He was still bringing his own food and coffee, though.

As well as a small box of homemade pastries for the teacher he'd be guiding around, whom he hadn't met yet.

Well, at least Tony appeared well put together. It was a finely honed skill. Also, he was keeping an eye out for anyone who he might know.

You know, considering Marvel and all. He didn't know that it was the other massive Disney property that was taking over now.

Oh, boy, nametags. Those were cool. Summer took a few seconds wrinkling her nose and making faces at them before she pasted her Summer Smith as best she could on her pink tank top and immediately felt like a total nerd. She wondered what might happen if she changed her with a marker or pretended to be someone else instead, but ultimately decided that was too much work and generally not worth it. Nothing wrong with being just plain old Summer Smith.

Summer had been warming up to this place quite a bit from the shuttle, she had to admit that, but the revelation that she'd be saddled with a roommate definitely didn't settle well with her. The pleasure of having her own bedroom wasn't something she took for granted, but something that she cherished and appreciated and made certain wasn't spoiled by nosy little brothers. But if having to share a room with someone else was the worst thing that happened to her here, then she guessed she'd come out okay.

Now it was just a matter of not butchering her roommate's name and sounding like an idiot. She narrowed her eyes as she read, not necessarily realizing she was testing it outloud. "Shy-emi Moriyama? Shee-me? Shy-my?"

Yeah, she was killing it...

After the shuttle ride, June could handle a little thing like a nametag. She printed JUNE IPARIS in her neatest block lettering, applied it squarely to her tunic, and watched for whoever was supposed to explain this place to her.

She would have rather figured things out on her own, but it seemed easiest to just play along for now.

The first thing Peebee did was to check over everything and make sure her full name hadn't snuck its way onto any records somehow.

The second thing was to grab a marker and a nametag that she promptly scrawled a large ??? on. Pfft. Why make that easy on anyone?

. . . okay, so she relented and wrote "Peebee" in tiny letters over the question marks, not immediately noticeable but legible if you took a few seconds to look. She was going to make people work for it. Sorry, big sibling!

That shuttle ride had been... something else. He kinda had an idea how Zack's first, unmorphed, ride in his Zord had been, now.

Looking around at that food spread, the welcome banner, and the... glitter... Jason was starting to get the feeling this wasn't the reform school that the Sheriff's Department thought it was. Which was just fine with him, really. Because his name appeared to be on the roster so as long as everyone concerned figured he was supposed to be here, he wasn't going to correct anyone.

Nametag firmly affixed, he went to go look for this 'Peridot' who was supposed to be his 'big sibling' or whatever.

Ugh, roommates? Jason rolled his eyes. Then he got a good look at the name, and a small flicker of hope was kindled.

Maybe Trini was here too, and someone had just mangled her name as usual? Except, he hadn't seen her on that ride (to use the term extremely loosely) in, so probably not.

"Oh!" he chirped, bouncing a little in place when he spotted her. "There you are! Hello there, June! My name's Eric, welcome!" he said, once he'd made his way over to her.
