Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I
The forecasts had been calling for rain all week, so when it was time to get everything set up for the picnic and it was sunny and warm outside instead, well, that was hopefully a good sign of things to come.
There were tables set up all around the lawn of the school with blue and gold tableclothes and chairs, and the usual buffet of food (and ice cream!) was waiting for hungry folks to dig in. There was also a second table with nametags and lists to help the new people locate their siblings and roommates.
Once the food was ready and the tables were glittered, everything was set for a very pleasant picnic indeed.
[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"Summer?" she said, just in case. "Hi, I'm Rey."
Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling [Summer 2017]
But she did know she was recycling that comment.
"Oh, hi, Rey," she said, "I'm Summer." Then she caught herself, shook her head, and laughed a little. "I mean, sorry, automatic response. You knew that. Also, I may have eaten a bunch of candy on the bus over here and I haven't had candy in a while, so the sugar rush is real."

And then she made herself focus on something other than food. "And yeah, the trip was great too, thanks. I...really don't think I'm going to hate this place as much as I thought I would."
Of course, she figured that was the whole point. If she was having a good time, it might distract her from causing trouble.

Of course, she didn't discount the idea that maybe if she acted up enough, they would put her in prison, and break her grandpa out from the inside, but she didn't think she was quite ready for that level of commitment yet.
So pardon Summer as she was vague like a vaguey thing that vagued vaguely.
"Oh, you know. New school, new people. All my old friend, my old stuff, everything back home, and I didn't even want to come here. Plus, I'll be a senior this year. A senior! All I had left was one more year at Harry Herpson, And then I could have graduated with all my friends, prom with my friends, homecoming...and now..."
Man, with everything that had been going on, Summer really hadn't had time to think of any of that, and now it all came rushing at her at once. Or maybe she was just coming down from the sugar rush. She was getting a little teary eyed, and, in that moment, was very much the teenage girl who could have had a (somewhat) normal life, if Tammy hadn't gone and fucked everything up. Fuck Tammy.
"Sorry," Summer sniffed, dabbing her eyes a little. "Ugh, sorry. I'm sure I'll make new friends and whatever. I'll try, but it just sucks. It's a lot to process."

But the words did help, and, you know what? She was totally allowed to be upset about her world being turned upside and sideways yet again. For the umpteenth time, and probably not the last. So, yeah, she was good.
"Okay, how's this, then? You tell me, in your own opinion, what would you say is the best thing about this place, and what is the worst?"

She sighed, shook her head, and dismissed it. "Whatever. I think I can deal with it so long as it's not my dad's body I'm switching with this time."
Summer had to suppress a shudder. Of all the times for her mom to want to rekindle the spark in their marriage, why had she chosen then? Some things you just couldn't get over.
"But accepting is good! I like that."
Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling [Summer 2017]
She hoped, anyway.
